Refreshing from the Health Food Store
It is always exciting to see the different variations that fragrances can have under the concept of Uomo-Homme-Man. Farfalla aims high and even recommends their Uomo on the packaging for "night owls." This may work, as long as one is not afraid to tackle nightlife in a natural wool sweater and health sandals.

Neither a masculine-assertive nor a deeply sensual scent awaits us here. This Uomo is a citrus gourmand fragrance. The citrus notes are intense and long-lasting, initially with a fresh-green touch. It is neither noble nor refined, but those who appreciate pronounced citrus scents may enjoy it. Even the most intense lemons eventually lose their juice, and to my surprise, the herbal undertone increasingly develops in a direction that reminds me of dark chocolate.

I am reminded of a candy that we all recall from childhood: refreshing sticks - those sugary things filled with lemon and orange syrup and coated in dark chocolate. With such thoughts, I can imagine this Uomo as a casual fragrance, but I can't take it too seriously.

Longevity and projection are decent; you can enjoy this scent for a few hours. Personally, Uomo does not suit my taste at all.

Authentic Concept
For a long time, I was searching for essences that completely forgo synthetic fragrance materials. During my search for individual, pure essential oils and natural incense blends, I came across the company Farfalla. In the process, I discovered the Eau Fraiche “Uomo”.

From a herbal, green base, the mint and lemon stand out clearly. One should not expect depth from this fragrance, but I wouldn’t want to push “Uomo” into the “eco-slippers corner” either. For little money, it truly offers a pleasant olfactory refreshment for hot days. However, the marketing people at Farfalla are really stretching it when they recommend “Uomo” for night owls and want to assign it solely to the male gender. Such an exaggerated advertising message is unnecessary, as especially in summer, after showering, or for relaxing in the sauna, this fragrance water will surely find its target audience.

The natural, lightly concentrated fragrance materials do not last particularly long on the skin. The transition is unremarkable. As Apicius already wrote, a light delicate bitter note remains. In the transition, with the mint influence, the drydown strongly reminds me of “After Eight”. This is not meant negatively, but rather speaks again for the naturalness.

It should also be mentioned that the alcohol at Farfalla is not denatured. You can tell this right from the first sniff test. Nothing here smells sharp, synthetic, or chemical. Associations with fruit sticks, iced tea, or chocolate speak for themselves: An appetizing mix.

Comparing this product with conventional designer fragrances would not be fair. For me, “Uomo” was a companion on long summer hikes. The refreshing scent did not compete with the fragrant forests and dew-fresh meadows, but harmonized in its naturalness with the surroundings. If this then makes it an “eco-fragrance”, without catering to the cliché of the grumpy, bearded, stumbling around in eco-slippers, smoking late hippie, then I’m fine with that. It is neither an insult nor a devaluation. It describes a concept that remains authentic apart from the advertising message.

Biotante was shopping...
...and can now also scent with a clear conscience. Vegan, NaTrue certified organic, cruelty-free, genuine, authentic scents, as only essential oils and 0.00 chemicals or synthetics are used.
I find that the fragrances from Farfalla serve very well as reference scents. For example, if it says mandarin, vetiver, or here "cedar," it is indeed present and perceptible. This makes sense if you want to train your senses for the reliable identification of fragrance notes.
The scent is suitable for both men and women, for young and old (sorry, mature). You won't stand out much with it. Cedarwood is a clear scent without frills. It works anytime and won't bother anyone, unlike some chemical bombs these days. Some extreme synthetics are gladly referred to as "beast mode" with "performance." The main thing is to stand out, take over entire halls, and stink up apartments for days. (Just recently experienced after an overnight visit from a teenager! Horrible, I tell you! Had to wash the bedding twice!! And it lingered in the apartment for a whole week! I think it should be banned. Outrageous!!) It is quite astonishing how sensitive and rejecting one can be, while it doesn't bother another, and someone else feels completely at ease with it. I have a theory about that. It's probably like tasting. What you often had as a child, e.g., home-cooked meals with fresh ingredients versus artificially flavored, overly seasoned convenience foods, you also like later. Especially if it was associated with positive emotions. The same goes for scents. What positive emotions do you associate? Time spent in nature? Or unpacking plastic toys? Just as an example... Maybe I'm just rambling, I don't know, just a thought... I also own and love many scents with chemicals. Nevertheless, I am grateful, through my work for two decades, to know what is real and what is not, with all imaginable essential oils.
The cedar, although not listed, is real and present here. It remains with us until the end. The cedarwood thus acts as the fixative. A little citrus, not much mint at the beginning. Done! I sometimes like it uncomplicated.
You can also reapply without having to think too much about it. Or if you put it on in the morning, you can wear a completely different scent in the evening. Nothing gets in the way. And the price is really quite reasonable! I find the packaging, with the nicely printed cardboard cylinder, quite well done. The bottle itself is practical and equipped with a sprayer that mists nicely fine.
With this scent, something is definitely happening.
In Bavaria, we say: "A little something always works!"

Natural Cosmetics from Switzerland (2)
Farfalla homepage: “With the freshness of ripe citrus fruits and grasses, a hint of mint, and sensual base notes. For (un)shaved men with style.” Does the last sentence hold true? No idea. For me, it is far less fresh than the vetiver scent from Farfalla. It’s not a sharp citrus fragrance. Citrus notes are perceptible but rather subtle and soft-warm. The scent is a bit green and fresh (mint?), though. I don’t notice much of the “sensual base notes.” Overall, it’s a restrained fragrance. Even without full freshness power, it’s a scent for spring and summer. Uomo is an Eau Fraîche. The longevity is poor. All in all, I do like the scent.

Tick Repellent
I would really love to say something positive about the scent because I find the concept of natural fragrances using natural scent materials very good.
And it could also be that the women's fragrances from Farfalla are good.

But "Uomo" unfortunately reminds me very strongly of the anti-tick spray "Zedan" from the organic store! The same scent materials must have been used here. Essentially, that would be cedar oil and mint.

The mint is extremely dominant and is framed by citrus, and the scent seems to change very little over time. However, it lasts a long time, and I also find the sillage quite strong.

I consider it extremely unsuitable for going out, regardless of the type of company or dating scenario.

For everyday use, it is also not well suited unless you work a lot outdoors and in tall grass. Because as a tick repellent, it should be very effective. The scent combination of "Zedan" effectively drives ticks away, in my experience. And thus, this perfume should have the same effect. It is certainly a good companion for summer hikes through forests and meadows.

I will keep it in my repertoire for exactly this purpose.

Soothingly clean + relaxing! What's on the label is what's inside: wonderful cedar. A hint of citrus + mint as a complement. Simple can be so good!

You consistently get what it says: citrus, distinct mint, and a woody note, but it's pleasantly cooling and summery fresh.

The combination of mint, grasses, and citrus notes is lovely. However, the scent is only subtle, so it's only for high summer.

In tune with nature. This perfume features all-natural ingredients. That's why you need to apply it more often. H + S ok.
