Transformable Wandering Rose!
...gives the kick here, together with Sichuan pepper, in otherwise classic Italian style!
Wow, Ferrari red!!!
Yes, it is undoubtedly an eye-catcher, this opaque, very stylish bottle!
It caught my eye from afar, recently in an Asian duty-free shop. So, in terms of design, the task is more than fulfilled, 'Naturally, Fendi' I thought as I got closer, among all the other very beautiful bottles next to it from ...Fendi! Fendi ...this could be something very good again :)?
I tested both the Eau de Parfum and the Eau de Toilette. Both were available there ...here I have now done a bit of research and the EDT, released this year, is not so easy to get, hmm, not yet?!
In any case, it is this one and not the EDP that got to accompany me on my journey back to Europe. Why not the EDP is explained at the end here ... :)
Acquarossa is, in both versions, a -very successful- fragrance. There is actually no olfactory innovation or even revolution to be discerned ...this is not negative at all, because it is still ...quite particularly -beautiful-!
Namely, if one wants to define this as 'typically Italian' (citrus plays a big role here, almost the main role, Sicilian oranges and mandarins ...alongside the rose and 'the roses', namely the wandering roses!), classic and sophisticated (floral and a fine, noble musk-patchouli base, skillfully and elegantly combined).
Acquarossa is -also- and primarily a rose scent, yes.
I am (and all fans of rose scents please forgive me here) not a big fan of rose scents ...although I love roses growing and blooming in nature, in all their countless, wonderfully beautiful varieties. But here, in Acquarossa, they are very pleasant to my nose: crisp and fresh, just bloomed, pinkish-red roses, still covered with morning dew. With a touch of almost herbal spice, contributed by the Lantana: Lantana, the wandering rose!
And the opening is deliciously opulent-citrusy: juicy-full Aetna blood oranges and mandarins set the tone and provide a lot of freshness ...both together are truly timeless, chic, elegant, very wearable. Warm, but not overwhelming in autumn and winter, cooling, but not cold in summer!
And once wide and far, no vanilla or similar in sight? Here it fits!
Since Acquarossa really has nothing 'girly' about it, I still don't see the wearer as being in her teenage years. The scent is clearly 'adult', but no worries, still young enough not to make one feel older :) It suits every age, -except- possibly the very young girls as mentioned, and it fits into every season. Although it particularly 'wraps you warmly' now in autumn, in a blooming summer garden full of rose bushes ...
Wearable, particularly well even, at work. Sillage is moderate, so a woman will, if at all, only stand out positively. Perfectly suitable for going out, definitely, in any case ...
However, this scent is already a -little- capricious :). Insofar as it feels like it expects a minimum level of style from its wearer: it is for me NOT a Sunday morning cuddly scent and also not a scent I would wear while exercising, or even just while taking a relaxed walk ...and in worn jeans and a sweatshirt, I would probably directly offend Acquarossa :-) Also, 'sensual' is this scent ultimately not really, and if one wants to -absolutely- criticize something harshly, then perhaps only THAT. That it is so beautiful, almost too elegant, too perfect. Some may find that the whole 'certain something', a few edges and corners are missing, even if 'everything is actually right' and no, it is by no means boring, just 'only' no ...see beginning ...stunning or even challenging innovation. Therefore, my rating is a bit lower, but that is also its only real flaw ...IF one wants to search for such a hair in the soup!
But for those who want to acquire it for a workday that might be a bit more formal, or simply 'just' for going out, to the theater, to a restaurant, for various celebrations, etc ...they should definitely go and test it out :)!
Ah ...and why do I prefer the EDT now? Here there is once again a very clear difference IN the scent. In the Eau de Parfum, alongside citrus fruits and the rose, the PLUM plays a very significant role! A very ripe, dark plum ...For me, it comes across as TOO heavy, ultimately too 'settled'. In the EDT, not only is there even more citrusy momentum right from the start, but there is also no damson :), instead, the peppy Sichuan pepper makes things very, very pleasant and light (literally uplifting, rejuvenating and refreshing!)! Therefore, the EDT was my choice here ...
Both red temptations clearly call out, 'yes, we are Italians', and for those who want to feel like that from time to time, like many of us, for example, still have the young Ornella Muti visually well in memory, these Fendis could be very appealing :)
