Good day, general criticism check!
"Mr. Fresh, everything seems to be fine with you, but we have stopped you for another reason."
Oh? Why is that?
"We've heard that you recently failed quite a bit."
Hmm? I wouldn't know in what way.
"Did you not post a comment on Grey Vetiver three weeks ago with the condition of writing a criticism?"
Oh, right... um, yes, okay, that one did turn out a bit harmless, but… to call in the Parfumo police for that?
"Well, of course! After all, you don't pay a membership fee, so something is expected in return! Moreover, that comment should help you finally come out of your shell."
Yes, but… and now?
"You have two options: Either you take five extra therapy sessions, or you prove to us right here and now that you can do better."
Hmm… well, I do have suitable candidates…
"Get a move on, and you'll have it behind you - but a big one."
Okay, so this… this Silver from Mercedes Benz has completely failed for me. The top notes are bitter orange, grapefruit, and rhubarb - a magnet for every freshie… and yes, the opening is promising, but that’s where it ends.
"Excuse me, do you call that a criticism?"
Just a moment, here it comes: Because just after a few minutes, alongside the fruits, a nasty note becomes noticeable, making me wonder: did it tank the cheap ISO-E-Super? Smells like softwood particle board from yesterday… Oh no, I mistook the pump, according to the pyramid there’s also Ambroxan in this Mercedes, the usual wobbly fruity wood - but here of the musty kind.
Although the trio of top notes is slightly sharpened by the pepper, which has its charm. But many fakes are out there. Because under the hood, the fun stops after a good hour at the latest, when the synthesized Ambrox mixture fully unloads and takes over the rhythm from then on. In other words, the freshness has evaporated, and you’re stuck in the swamp.
But what is this? Is Silver becoming bearable for me after 1.5 hours? … Hardly, it’s probably more due to the reduced sillage, now only half - thankfully ;) Afterwards, the whole thing becomes a bit sweeter with a touch of musk, and 2 hours later, with the appearance of a moderately smelling vetiver (replacement ;) at least the musty fruity wobble wood is replaced.
So the scent now drifts along, a bit different but not better, namely the last 2.5 hours almost only as cheap vetiver, and no trace of moss. To me, it all smells quite uneven and far too synthetic. But at least the late drydown is slightly grassy and might appeal to one or the other vetiver hardliner.
"Mr. Fresh, that was quite decent for a criticism, but you didn't mean to say something positive with your last sentence, did you?"
Uh, no, not at all... although it loses its freshness on a shirt after about 6 hours, it only lasts 3-4 on my neck.
"Well, there you go, that's better."
