Hook'ed
The bottle catches the eye, it's hard to miss with its metaphor/reference - a real cannon barrel! ;-) Why has "FullChoke" been somewhat overlooked and is nearly forgotten today? Phew, I really have no idea, probably there wasn't a true target audience. I still like it a lot...

The few owners who still have it majestically sitting on their shelves should consider themselves lucky and take it out for a spin tonight - because I am a bit envious... "FullChoke" shouldn't be underestimated, because despite the phallic association and "gunpowder in the head," at its core, it is a spicy-soft pirate flower that comes across as more approachable and extraordinary than intrusive and dangerous. So more parrot than eye patch. It’s like imagining "Aventus" sitting on a sharpening stone in a pink garden center - that’s how you can picture "FullChoke," it hardly has the strength to choke you. It starts fruity-wild, but quickly becomes bright-floral and ends in a slightly damp vetiver patch. I find it very fine and interesting, unique and worth discussing, masculine despite the flowers. Once again, it’s a shame that it has sunk and was ahead of its time. After all, it’s bolder than 98% of today’s new releases... The perfect Jack Sparrow scent?!

Bottle: a nice decorative... uh, decorative object...
Sillage: initially a blast, then quickly becomes subtle
Longevity: drops off exponentially, but still lasts a decent amount of time (7 hours)

Conclusion: an explosively creamy floral for men - great!

Black Powder Bottle?
It may be, but with the shape of the bottle, I associate exactly what was hinted at in some responses regarding male anatomy. The bottle is a grand imposition for me: it is not only ugly and impractical, but the sprayer is also covered with rubber (sic!), which makes spraying a torment. Nothing comes out, and I sincerely hope that no one gets the idea to order 10 ml of this scent from me. One of the rare occasions where I gave the bottle a solid 0%.

After all the fuss about the packaging, the scent itself is almost disappointing. A solid, woody-spicy men's fragrance, undoubtedly well made, but quite a distance from the extreme herbiness ("Smalto") and fine spiciness ("Francesco Smalto for Men") of its brothers from the same house. An inconspicuous fellow, truly not bad, but then again with too little recognizability.

In the race for the worst bottle ever, this colleague would certainly take one of the top spots for me. The scent itself then hangs out in the upper midfield. One must give it credit for smelling unsynthetic; that alone is already worth a lot...

Mutiny on the Bounty? Bone-dry Dusty Powdery Spice Rack with Sweet Accents
There has been ample discussion about the phallic symbol bottle - I wonder what women think when they see this monster for the first time in the bathroom of a "FullChoke" owner?

The scent itself fits quite well into the Smalto range that I know so far, of which I appreciate "Smalto" the most and find "Francesco Smalto" very respectable.

This fragrance is definitely unusual - gunpowder as a scent note?! Is that even possible?!
Yep, a clear yes, you are surprised by a bone-dry, almost desert-like dusty note that actually reminds you of gunpowder, which almost leaves you breathless. But it might also be due to the layer of black pepper on top...

This is all underscored by a pleasantly smooth selection of spices, with cardamom and coriander in balance. The fruits listed above are hardly noticeable, perhaps some subtly dried pineapple pieces in the background.

A bit of sweetness is brought to the bone-dry arrangement by an increasingly recognizable hint of rum, which is, however, richly embedded in a very woody teak aroma. One can hardly speak of sweetness, as the dusty, slightly spicy gunpowder remains too dominant in the long run.

If you sum up all the ingredients, this fragrance actually fits perfectly into the era of the old seafaring novels like "Bounty," "Treasure Island," and the like.
The scent is certainly interesting, but perhaps only limitedly suitable for everyday wear, as its dustiness lacks the typical characteristics of an Eau de Toilette...

For City Pirates
I got some samples of this perfume because I was curious about what gunpowder smells like.

I was not disappointed; it really smells very smoky.

So, from the very beginning:
When I apply FullChoke, I am first overwhelmed by a very strong alcohol note; you really can't smell anything else in the first 5 seconds. However, it is not the typical perfume alcohol smell, but rather good alcohol, I would say. Does it smell like rum? No idea, I'm not very familiar with that, but definitely not like Pina Colada. That's a shame..

You don't have to wait long, and a smoky note appears, very delicious, in my opinion! Not like a smoker's bar, more like a pipe. Still not like grandpa ;)

Now I also perceive something slightly fruity and clear, maybe the pineapple; I don't smell melon.

But the smoky note overshadows everything. I like it.

Unfortunately, I don't smell any flowers, but that's probably due to my untrained nose.

Oh yes, and vanilla, yes, it's there! But so light and round that it almost gets lost. You really have to sniff closely to find it, hidden at the very edge. Not because it's shy, no, it's a fine vanilla, but it doesn't want to steal the show from the smoke. Noble of it.

After a few hours, the smoky note fades slightly, and it becomes warm-woody-herbaceous-bitter-but with a slight fruity sweetness.

Conclusion:

The smoky note is really great! As a non-smoker, I even imagine I feel a slight scratch in my throat. And I don't smell like an ashtray, which is quite important.

Something different, but it doesn't last forever on the skin. Not a scent bomb. More of an interesting smell that doesn't push itself to the forefront.
Next week is Halloween; maybe I'll go as a city pirate and wear FullChoke.

-->Even though it says FOR MEN----> I wear it now and then.

Finally a successful blind purchase!
I admit that I also wanted to sniff the gunpowder note.

Unfortunately, FullChoke seems not to have made it to the German market. But there’s always the eBay. There I was able to acquire FullChoke for a very moderate price.

Now, after the first test, I still don’t know exactly how gunpowder smells. But I am not disappointed nonetheless.

The development on my skin is linear. The scent doesn’t change much. But that’s not meant negatively. I like it just the way it is.

This is a woody-spicy Eau de Toilette. Underneath, a very light sweetness emerges. The whole thing is always accompanied by a very pleasant smoky note. I don’t know where the flowers are hiding. I can’t pick out individual scent components. The blend is very successful on its own. The longevity is good for me. However, the sillage is not very pronounced. The scent clings more to the skin.

The bottle is supposed to resemble a black powder flask for muzzle-loading rifles and pistols. Somehow, I find the shape very successful. The slightly gray-brown liquid in the transparent glass constantly reminds me of smoked glass. Even when I smell the fragrance, these smoked glass panes still come to mind. Well, I know that glass doesn’t smell. Still, the scent evokes this idea for me. It’s a mix of smooth coolness and smoky warmth, just like smoked glass. This material has long since gone out of fashion in home and room furnishings. But we know that everything eventually comes back in a modified form.

I am very satisfied with the blind purchase. So I categorize this creation under "niche" in the lower price segment.

Clear mountain stream drops bead on the attractive hunter's fresh skin. Only the traces of gunpowder on the fingers can't be washed away.

Classic masculine-elegant, aromatic, spicy-woody scent. Slightly smoky, subtly sweaty, with a gentle sweetness. Like soft juniper.

The scent is masculine, and not just because of the bottle. Green-woody notes, smoky gunpowder, and sweet animal notes. I like it.
