pleasant, mild fruity musk

Initially, I was almost put off by the orris note. Which is odd, because I usually love orris! There's something else in here that doesn't mesh well with it on my skin, but I can't pick out what. It's definitely more powdery than I was expecting, and I was adverse to it until I got more of the peach skin and plum, the promised fruitier notes. Now that it's settled a bit more, it's a nice, vaguely sweet fruity musk. Really intimate and warm, stays very very close to the skin. Pleasant.

I think I might do more wear tests for this, but this is definitely one of my favorite skin scents of the few I've tried so far. However, I wouldn't say this is a must have for anyone's collection.

Not your average skin scent

A well-done skin scent. The type of fragrance you could wear just about anywhere – work, public transit – without bothering anyone. There's a very subtle, fruity sweetness but mostly this just amplifies my own natural skin smell. There are a lot of scents like this on the market, but this one stands out to me. Virtually every other skin scent I've tried is too heavy on the white musk for my taste, whereas this one feels more balanced.

Long story short, skin scents aren't my usual fare but I give this one points. I won't be buying it for myself but I would recommend it if skin scents are your thing.

Just Another Skin Scent

I was really hoping the peach skin and plum would show up on my skin, but alas. This reads as a synthetic musky scent on me from start to finish.

This might be worth trying if you have issues with other skin scents like I do. The original Glossier You smells like straight pink pepper on me, and Not A Perfume makes me gag. This is sweeter than both, even if it's not particularly interesting to wear.

What You Rêve was advertised to be...

Glossier's "You" aimed to be the color-changing-lipstick of the perfume world: morphing with each wearer. FWIW, all my skin pulled was black pepper (boo).
"You Rêve" and "You Doux" were the next iterations, aiming to be a fruity version and a woody version, respectively. I love Doux and wear it often, as a soft skinscent that's just as neutral and calming as the packaging. Rêve, however was a gloopy, synthetic, lipsticky mess to my nose... bummer, because I wanted the sweet veil advertised.

Which brings us to Snif Co.'s "Me"... it is neither as refined or well-blended as Rêve, but it succeeds in delivering on what it promises: a sweet skin-scent that shifts with the wearer. As a couple women and I all sprayed it at ULTA, we compared notes: on paper, peach nectar and wood pulp (think DIY paper from art class). On lady A, a mossy earthy base with a brief fruity top (think Chloe Nomade EDT). On lady B, nothing... orcanox took over and there was a 'whiff' of sweet air but it seemed her skin absorbed it totally. On me, a plummy sweetness with just a hint of sandalwood grounding.

I think this will be a controversial one -- not just for 'knocking off' or 'talking back to' Glossier's "You" -- but because the notes can tend to swing back-and-forth: sweet, woody, airy, dusty, bright, wispy, earthy, etc.

I think I'll buy a full bottle because it suits me well, and I'm excited to read what others discover!
