Spices and vintage, powdery florals
I've never been to Nida, but I gotta say the bottle is what brought me to this fragrance. Unable to sample it since Etiket wouldn't sell samples of it, I decided to go for a blind-buy of their travel size, in the hopes I'd love it enough to get the stunning full bottle.
Unfortunately, I should've given it a second thought when I saw the notes. I want to start with the fact that there's nothing inherently wrong with this fragrance. I think it might be more of a me problem (nose and skin chemistry). The beginning is quite spicy. Cardamom is strong, warm and takes up a lot of place. Right underneath, I could smell a sweet citrusy note paired with a warm, resinous scent. Pretty mild when compared with the strong, almost choking, cardamom. After a few minutes, the florals start to come up. They're all pretty powdery, with just a subtle hint of animalic. Tea keeps everything on the fresher side, so the flowers are a little less sweet than what I thought they'd be. Violet and jasmine are the strongest on my skin. Mandarin orange from the top notes becomes a lot more citric, a bit sour on the skin. The middle notes have that vintage, classic and sophisticated feel. Bottom notes are a little bit more on the earthy, woody side, bringing out more warmth, like sun caressing your skin.
The perfume undeniably has that natural vacation vibe, like taking a stroll on an island bordering the sea. Even if it does have that vibe, the spicy warmth and resinous aspect of this perfume makes it a better fit for spring or even fall wear. It's a nice spicy and floral perfume that many people will enjoy. It's not that challenging to the nose, but the floral powderiness is what's keeping me from adding this fragrance to my collection as a full bottle. Kind of sad since the bottle is absolutely stunning, but that should never be the sole reason why I add a perfume to my collection. I'll be using up my travel size 'till the end though!
