Hut evening with Islay
I think today I have cabin night....
Thanks to the dear Delightful I'm just in the enjoyment of wood and forest fragrance experiences, and I have Mr. UntermWert finally the Heirloom Oak to play, which we test time-delayed, but on the same day (without prejudice - the fragrance is a dream!).
In parallel, I met today - and purely by chance - Woodcut (Olympic Orchids) and Woody Mood (Olfactive Studio), and all play for me in a homey forest cabin, each in its own unique way.
Heirloom Oak was a blind buy, and as I said, was meant to be a gift, whisky theme. I am not disappointed: the beginning is "boozy" with a very special, masculine sweetness in amber, vanilla and tonka. On me it retains a slight freshness (maybe immortelle?), on the gentleman it develops an impulse of wanting to get closer with its very gentle sillage on the other person.... the fragrance seems so unbelievably homely, mature and contented. But it doesn't need to be somehow spicy and thick, like a classic "men's fragrance" (men underlined thickly). He belongs to him, connects with his personality and underlines them dignified and harmonious.
With me after a short, sweetish prelude, the fragrance soon develops a soft woody tone, reminiscent of a purist cabin, in which a fire burns and the resin smells through the walls. Basically, however, it also reminds me latently of an empty whiskey glass from which an Islay was previously enjoyed - smoky, very slightly peaty, with the sweetness of the wooden barrel in which it was stored.... there you can smell for hours.
The scent presents us with exactly what I was looking for: the aura of a good whisky, mature, content, with a quiet nod.... in the background a fireplace.
Although in essence rather masculine, but I would wear him quite to the cozy end of the day, if I would like to enter in the imagination in a cabin, in which a peaceful inviting fire burns, surrounded by rough nature, rocky ground, in the background a deep-quiet forest
... in any case away from the city, the everyday life associated with it and the uncertainty and unrest still prevailing at the time.
Wonder-, beautiful fragrance. Not light, but definitely not bulky either - with a sweetness that clings to the gentleman as if she had always been looking for him. (a 10s)
