Into the Memory of the Old Planks
Now it is dark, I have woken up. The room is indistinct and shadowy. Only a remnant of the night’s light falls through the window. I am on the floor, the wooden planks are damp, they smell rotten, are decayed and soft, and I believe I will sink into them, like in tar pit sand, only very slowly. The tea tree oil. The bottle must have spilled, then I must have fallen asleep, following its ethereal vapors down through the rotting bark into the memory of the old planks.
There are still leather fibers everywhere, which once flowed with the black divan, that completely worn out from the medicinal balm of a bather disappeared here into the ground, into a hollow space of earth and clay, into swirling vapors of old gasoline and the silver moonlight streaks that get lost here through the cracks and wander like camphor light through an old oil tank with the nocturnal stars.
**
With 'The Unleashed Apothecary' (the former sublabel 'Exclusive Blend R.A.W'), the self-taught Jimmy Bodin has separated from the Swiss label Jousset Parfums to independently market his handmade extraits made from rare wild-harvested raw materials in also manually crafted unique bottles.
"Bois d'Agar Très Très Noir" begins with an accord of ethereal tea tree notes (Manuka wood), strictly medicinal-woody gurjun balsam, and earthy-green-rooty nagarmotha, which remains present down to the base and reminds one of old, well-aged patchouli with leathery nuances. These three components emphasize the characters of the various eagle woods that determine the heart and base of the fragrance: the earthy-spicy-camphor-like Vietnamese oud, the clay-like notes of Cambodian oud, and the leathery spiciness of Thai oud.
Thus, a very dark scent of damp, rotten, moldy wood, roots, wet earth, and dark sharp leather is indeed created, over which an ethereal veil of camphor, tea tree oil, and gasoline hovers, acting like a white light reflection on black oil. The journey into the memory of the old planks is distinctly to moderately present and fills the evening.
