A lovely surprise from a dubious brand

I don't know if they're well-known internationally, but ~15 years ago, George Gina & Lucy bags and their bulky carabiner hook decor were inescapable in Germany. A dark chapter of fashion. Yes, I had one, too, no, I'm not proud of it.
So, I really didn't expect much from a fragrance by this brand. But the notes and reviews sounded interesting enough, so I gave it a go.

Bitter Sweet really is surprisingly good! I wouldn't call it a dupe for Cuir Beluga, but it definitely leans into the same direction. Soft suede and powdery vanilla with a touch of heliotrope, very enveloping and cozy. The difference is that Bitter Sweet isn't as delicate, fluffy and fine-tuned as Cuir Beluga, instead it's a little darker and rougher, which might be a plus for some. The artimisia note makes it stand out, its herbal scent feels almost anise-like, so the fragrance reminds me of licorice, too. The black pepper adds another layer of intrigue. Bitter Sweet is aptly named, that's just what it smells like.
Remarkable, especially for the price. Strong like for me. I wish it came in a better bottle. A hidden gem for Cuir Beluga fans on a budget.
