Strange nostalgy
I remember a cold dark basement room with a small window, where a strip of light lightly blesses a chipped white medicine cabinet. I open the glass doors, and there is the scent of nostalgia: old plaster bandages, disinfectants, chamomile ointment, tin containers, metal tools, maybe even iodine, and dried flowers of medicinal herbs... yes, this could be the scent of a body heavily decorated with tattoos...also doctors and art people might be the target audience for this fragrance. Aloofly atractive. Painfully tender.

India in a Bottle
"Here it smells completely of India!!! Did you spray that???" (Quote Mr. Fefaminz)

Yes, that was me! At first, Tara Mantra has something very aquatic and makes me wrinkle my nose a bit (I have nothing against aqua scents, but what does this have to do with Tantra?!). However, it quickly becomes clear that this very pronounced sandalwood (not even listed in the pyramid) and saffron/cardamom combo has initially misled my nose. No, no, this has nothing to do with aqua, but is pure India. Slightly bitter from ajowan (very aromatic) and the saffron, warm from the woody note, delicately sweet and just a little floral (the jasmine is used only in homeopathic dosage), the patchouli ensures that it definitely does not become cozy. The oud and the asant add a minimal-animalistic touch, and thus the scent remains very long, very pronounced on the skin.

Tara Mantra is for me a very present perfume, perfect as a signature scent or a big evening fragrance depending on the dosage, and sooooo much of India: powerful, dominating, even a bit disturbing, but neither fresh nor a cozy gourmand treat!

Probably not for me, but Mr. Fefaminz is seriously considering it.

Delicious Devil's Dung
If I researched correctly, Tara Mantra has something to do with Buddhist meditation. In any case, I found something about the green Tara Mantra, which is said to protect against 8 dangers. Anyone who wants to know more should consult the all-knowing search engine.

As with the other two fragrances from the Gri Gri brand, the listed fragrance components are thematically and geographically associated with a tattoo style, and in the case of Tara Mantra, that could be Buddhism in Southeast Asia.

I also had to look up some of the ingredients, and I was most surprised by Asant, the devil's dung. This is a spice that is apparently supposed to taste very strong and bitter like garlic and is also called stink-asant. Olfactorily, thankfully, I can't detect anything of that in the fragrance, but I'm curious to see who can pick out this note.

Tara Mantra is a very spicy perfume with a consistently pleasant, almond-like sweetness, earthy spicy patchouli, and a finely exotic floral nuance, where the jasmine is kept well in check.

If you overlook the somewhat strict opening, I find Tara Mantra rather monothematic.

In the opening, saffron is the dominant note for me, and cardamom only comes into play for me after 20 minutes together with the patch.

All in all, the fragrance has a certain wellness character for me.

The longevity is top-notch at 12 to 14 hours, and the sillage decreases from very strong to moderate with the duration of wear.

Tara Mantra just barely misses my wish list.

Summer must have, perfect for hawaiian shirt, sun, heat. I love them for years.
One of a kind in summer frags.

Strange blend of saffron, cumin, and patchouli with an odd rubbery note that turns into a pleasant cumin-incense-like scent outdoors.

Asant is an incense drug...aha. That's why I can't get my nose away from it. Dreamy if you like that kind of scent...otherwise: beware.

In Cardamom & Ajowan (Thymiol) glazed jasmine on steamed saffron rice;) delicate-creamy-vanilla sweetened & served with a touch of oud in a cashmeran wood bowl. Amazing!

For me: a few old wooden planks & some freshly treated ones, next to a man who is just grating licorice :o)

As others have noted here: rubber, hot rubber, leather, and later thankfully a bit of cleanliness.

According to my husband, it smells like furniture polish mixed with floor wax and paint thinner... and he's not entirely wrong.

An Indian curry dish mixed with adhesive solvent creates an avant-garde scent that goes a bit overboard.

Starts with a new car scent.
Then rubber comes in.
Later, I'm driving through the Bauhaus in the new car.
Very interesting, but unbearable for me.
