Bubbly, sparkly pear

Pear Inc oscillates between crisp pears, sweet pear-flavored candy, fresh soap bubbles and sparkling citrus soda. I can't decide which aspect I get the most. Like many JHAG it smells intentionally lab-made, but in this case it's fun and bubbly and not scratchy or sterile. For some reason I find the bottle color really fitting for the scent, even though I never associated pears or clean scents with those dark teal hues before.

It's been a while since I tried Not A Perfume, but to my nose this doesn't resemble the fuzzy woodsy aura of that one too much. Instead it reminds me of D&G Light Blue in a way. The pear note is obviously a big difference, but the sweet, zesty citrus top and clean cedar-ish woodsy base together are quite similar. If someone gave me an unlabeled sample of this and told me it was a new Light Blue flanker, I wouldn't have doubted it.

I don't always get along with JHAG, but this is a good one.
My only small problem is that it turns very sweet on me after a while, which doesn't happen on paper. I love sweetness in general, I just think this specific scent doesn't profit from it, this should be fresher. It's definitely a skin chemistry thing though. See for yourself if you like pear and don't mind some synthetic clean vibes.

JHAG made me a musk convert.

I have a number of fragrances that incorporate musk in their profile, but none that really put it front and center the way Pear Inc. does. I just don't tend to really *get* musks or skin scents, especially as they often incorporate iris or violet notes, which I almost never like and tend to read as really grandma-esque on me.

Anyway, JHAG gave me the option to add a sample of this to my order for freesies, so I said, what the heck, let's do it. No regrets! This musk isn't too skin-y and doesn't rest on any florals. It's giving more fresh-linen-shirt-on-skin than the skin itself. And that image is especially fitting because, like detergent, this is a bit synthetic-y, but that does die down over its medium wear time.

It's bright and fresh and juicy. In that way, it's similar to Valentino Donna Born in Roma Coral Fantasy (too many words in that title omg), but a teeny tiny bit warmer thanks to the ambroxan, and a little bit more unexpeted thanks to the lack of florals.

I am sure I'll be reaching for the sample and crawling back for a bigger bottle.

Love the opening ... wish it would last longer

I think this is one of the most realistic, juicy and crisp pear openings out there and oh, how I wish that this topnote would last longer.

I understand that as a topnote, it is a fleeting one, but I will say that if I do not overspray this, it almost seems gone to my nose within one to two hours.

I think I am somewhat anosmic to the underlying ambrettolide / ambroxan, so it might be just me. If it was more linear and stayed as crisp and fruity, I would bathe in it, I think :)

Realistic pear, clean soft musk

I was surprised by how realistic the pear is in the opening, it's like a glass of cold pear juice! This is a natural pear scent, not sugary or gourmand at all.

Moves on quickly to fancy pear shampoo, then into fancy shampoo. Dries down fully as a lovely clean and light musk with just a hint of fruitiness.

I applied this 9 hours ago, and I can still smell it on both skin and clothes. Sillage is moderate at first then intimate - I can smell this up close and I get the occasional waft when my clothes move.

I can see myself getting a full bottle after finishing my decant - this is perfect for spring and summer and good for the office.

gone with the wind

still not the pear i'm looking for...
opening up with a sweet pear - not as crisp and juicy as i would like it to be, it reminds me more of a pear-flavored drink as it's too mallow for pear candy.
settles into a nothing more than a pleasant shampoo smell that's gone within 2-3 hours.
not bad, but not great either.
