Captivating Blooms from India
I ordered Pour Lamour de l'Inde right after its release. To my surprise, I had to read here on Parfumo that the fragrance is by Isabel Derroisne. I was sure I had ordered it back then from Yves Rocher. I also saw a few offers online where the fragrance was sold under YR. Unfortunately, I no longer have my old bottle and packaging, but if I find out anything regarding this, I will of course provide an update.

In any case, I received my bottle in the mid-nineties and wore the fragrance quite often until I finished it. The bottle, a splash bottle, has an artistic cap that is supposed to represent a flower, probably the spadix or spike of an arum plant. Since it is a splash, you have to dab the fragrance on.
I really like the bottle, it’s a little work of art!

About four or five years ago, I managed to get my hands on a nearly full bottle again, and on the sticker at the bottom of the bottle, it definitely says Isabel Derroisne.

I still really like the fragrance, but I don’t find it that spicy at all. For me, the floral notes clearly dominate; it is even very floral. There are very intense bright flowers, and I also smell a lot of nectar here.
I can maybe sense a bit of pepper, but what I primarily smell are very intense flowers! I can't even say which flowers they are, but somehow the fragrance reminds me of a bloom. Unfortunately, I just don’t know which one. I think I would have to sniff around in a floral shop for that. In any case, it’s a flower with honey-sweet nectar.
It’s also possible that the combination of rose, marigold, and jasmine creates this impression for me; I really don’t know! I can’t pick out these notes individually.
Over time, the flowers calm down, and a beautiful, slightly powdery base of sandalwood and vanilla emerges. While the fragrance is quite intense at first, it then becomes very close to the skin.

I’m glad to have found another bottle of this beautiful floral scent!

On the Spice Route to India
Thank goodness, this fragrance is back in my possession. To be honest, I can't remember where I had it the first time around, but around 1998 I had a large splash bottle of it, which unfortunately I could only use a few times before it broke due to its fragile glass nature. My pain was great, but over the years it faded. The scent fell into oblivion, and only through Parfumo was I reminded of it again, and now we are reunited!
Pour L'Amour de L'Inde (For the Love of India) is a beautiful, floral-spicy fragrance, with an emphasis on spicy. I remember it wasn't expensive back then; I don't know if it's still available today and if so, at what price.
Even the top note is enchanting. A fresh, slightly sharp floral note, not sweet, but lovely.
The heart note is pure India. Cardamom, my favorite spice of Indian cuisine, defines this part of the development and provides a sharp sweetness, not unlike the ginger, which I also love, and thus related to Serge Lutens' Five o'clock Au Gingembre. The jasmine note is either only subtly present, or the cardamom is simply too strong for it, but in this fragrance, I wouldn’t welcome jasmine in excess.
The scent evokes images that show India and former colonial sites in a romantic light, spice bazaars, the trade of the coveted, expensive saffron, opulence of colors and scents, interspersed with beautiful, dark, delicately built people with graceful movements and shy gestures. Gold-threaded saris, carved depictions of goddesses and idols. The dream of the ancient Indian culture, buildings like the Taj Mahal and gardens as magnificent as Shalimar. Isabel Derroisné has excellently captured this world in the heart note.
The dry down goes into the spicy-creamy.
Unfortunately, the longevity is to be criticized. When I was young and inexperienced, I probably overlooked this, but today I know fragrances that have massive sillage or are present for many hours, but unfortunately, this one does not, otherwise it would have received a perfect score.

Sweet-spicy rose, but not the freshest on the market.
It also has an aldehydic note.
Rather unbalanced & not for me.

First floral-spicy, quite bitter. But gradually transforms into a powdery-rosy fragrance delight. A pity about the short longevity.

This is supposed to capture India in a bottle, but all I see is a travel brochure.
