Powerhouse is called KRAFTWERK.
Hard to believe, but the triad of

an (naturally leading) almost aggressive Kerlekrautigkeit of the 80's,
a tobacco-like oak-brown, flowery Viennese imperial and imperial barbershop softness and
a hardly comprehensible, timeless to hypermodern, cool androgynous smoothness

is a harmonic.

We put on the man-machine (vinyl of course) and listen to the four men:

Neon light, shimmering neon light
And when night falls
Is this city of light.

The Zen garden in the courtyard of the Powerhouse!
Powerhouse Review #5

Strongly based on the original Davidoff? Never smelled it. So what remains for me to review as "Vermeil for Men" as an independent perfume? There's nothing wrong. In the sense of a purchase consultation, which such a comment should always be also a piece far, it is perhaps even of advantage.

In my opinion, the "most difficult" note of some (proto-)power houses of the seventies and eighties I have already described in my reviews of "Lapidus pour Homme" and "Sex Appeal": A certain harsh, scratchy, sweaty note, reminiscent of old sports shower gels of that time, which can sometimes cause headaches for me, at least in the context of the near-sniffing back of the hand test. Fortunately in Vermeil this can only be found in a very low dosage (probably coriander in combination with clove and moss), as well as the typical animalism of the time; the worst urine mist has disappeared to the open window. What came in to this window in exchange is a very successful, herbaceous-fresh floweriness, which by no means seems effeminate even to a 21st century nose. On the contrary, this very natural-looking, well-balanced combination of herbaceousness, animalism and floral (in my nose mainly violets and jasmine) gives the wearer an aura of sovereignty and a timeless, sure taste. This is all the more remarkable in view of the fact that "Vermeil for Men" is not really one of those fragrances to which such attriutes would be attributed blindly due to its genre; and in its case, the exquisitely tasteless flacon adds its own touch. Nevertheless, Vermeil is less dated than other perfumes of those years. It combines finesse with freshness (carried by a hunch of soapiness) and unstrained strength. By the way, she also thinks that "Vermeil pour Homme" is one of the Top 3 of my collection and always emphasizes how well it would suit me. And also this can now partout not each of my eighties stretchers of itself claim...

So anyone who is now looking for a balanced, classic men's perfume of the old school and who endures being greeted every morning by the almost avant-garde awfulness of a bottle should go on a hunt for this price/performance winner (which is probably difficult to find in this country)

A fragrance that breaks the neck of people my age
Who would have thought that Vermeil pour Homme is such a firecracker! To the readers of my age, who usually only carry sugar water, I'd rather leave the fingers of this caliber right away.

One thing in advance: Yes, Vermeil pour Homme is 95% THE fragrance twin of the very first poison green Davidoff. The only thing that distinguishes them is that the Davidoff comes across a little bit more herbaceous (presumably by the caraway) and smokier, while Vermeil comes along a little bit more fruity, tangy and resinous and has a little less durability and sillage, which is still strong enough to fill rooms with.

I don't want to and can hardly smell the individual scent components of this masterpiece, because it's just crazy how much the individual scents harmonize together. However, I will try to explain the course of the fragrance anyway. The prelude is very citric-herbal and resinous, that it would knock some weaklings already from the stool. Here you get to feel what a power Vermeil already has! This then turns into an indescribable finely spicy flower mix, where sweetness is hardly to be found. The fragrance then slowly fades away, but never loses its bitter and spicy floridity.

It's a real shame that there are hardly any such fragrances left in the shops. Admittedly, Vermeil is a fragrance that you have to like, because it is a bit out of time. You can clearly smell the time he was born. Vermeil is certainly not an everyday fragrance! It's just too loud and too strong for that. As mentioned above, this fragrance fills rooms. I like to wear it best when I go into town in the evening and want to steal the show from all the boys with their cotton candy water. It's hard to believe, but you get compliments for this fragrance, even though it smells like old school.

If you already wear it with U30, you should already have self-confidence, radiate a certain seriousness and have eggs in your trousers, otherwise you will quickly make a fool of yourself with Vermeil. A pity that Vermeil pour Homme is now more difficult to obtain than the completely overpriced original. As fast as I could I got a 50ml bottle on Ebay to be able to enjoy it at all. Since then I have been checking regularly to see if anyone is still auctioning a bottle of Vermeil pour Homme here and there. Until then I keep my 50ml like my eyeball and think very carefully when it is always used.

I have to admit that the first Davidoff is a little bit better, but Vermeil pour Homme is the perfect replacement

Friends of the forest... the smell cells are jumping....
...and with joy. A powerful fragrance for lovers of Fougéré. And this even with the today forbidden measure of oakmoss.
What begins with "Vermeil pour Homme", very fruity, blueberry green, is quickly caught up by all sorts of flowers, none of which stands out explicitly, without being displaced. Darkly-fresh-- I could name the "scent quality" now. And spicy. Thanks to a bigger breeze from Korea,
the "very best", the oakmoss, can already be guessed here.
If I now compare "Vermeil pour Homme" with a walking path, it now leads from the lush meadow into the forest, just as green and lush. Where damp fog roams. And the moss cushions on the trunks green.
Far away seems to be the haste and hectic of the world. Far away are the sounds of the cities, the hustle and bustle of companies and offices. And how wiped away the grey docility of everyday life.
Only here, only now, where not ONLY the nose is amused.
It leads us "friends of the forest" into their own world. Even if "only" in spirit, with a scent.
But often this is enough to breathe deeply and to draw new strength.
And sometimes it draws attention to the fact that there is free time and weekends. And it's not hard to spend a few hours outside in the "real forest".

Are We In Las Vegas?...
Vermeil for Men opens with nose burning alcohol before turning to an herbal lemon citrus tandem with just a touch of underlying oakmoss in support. Progression from this point on is very linear with the fragrance first displaying a slightly synthetic smelling rose that soon joins an herbal booze-laced authentic smelling sweet smoky pipe tobacco with hints of underlying cinnamon, patchouli and oakmoss. Projection is deceptively excellent and longevity is outstanding at over 15 hours on skin.

Vermeil for Men is not going to set the world afire with its complexity or subtlety. Its bottle is in the shape of a lighter (with some mistaking it on first glance for a hip flask) and it delivers exactly what it promises. You get tobacco and to a lesser degree, booze. If you are looking for interesting progression or super-high quality components look elsewhere. That said, sometimes you just want a simplistic fragrance that delivers the goods and in Vermeil for Men you get just that. No distractions to draw attention away from the tobacco, just minor supporting booze, spice and oakmoss. I can't see many occasions to wear this (except maybe on the smoky casino floor) but when you are looking for a straight slightly sweet smoky pipe tobacco fragrance one would be hard-pressed to find a closer approximation. The bottom line is the relatively inexpensive under $20 a 100ml bottle Vermeil for Men is linear, simplistic and sometimes even synthetic smelling, but it gets the primary tobacco note down just right and has performance metrics that can compete with the best of them earning a "very good" 3.5 stars out of 5 rating. Now that I have a bottle of Vermeil for Men in hand, Las Vegas here I come!
