Really Beautiful
Ah, what a sad world it would be without Peanuts Saubärblog. The most beautiful fragrances would pass me by unnoticed. *gg* ... Just like "The Key".
Our local Müller store has been carrying it for some time now. I could never really muster the motivation to test it, as I was sure I would only smell a sweet gummy bear scent. After all, J. Bieber is a star of the target group that enjoys such fragrances. And at over 40, you generally don’t really belong to that group anymore. ;-) But as is often the case, prejudices rarely serve us well. Because the scent is the exact opposite of what I expected. It is truly beautiful and fitting for the Saubärblog. And the white of the bottle fits in excellently here. It would also make a lovely bridal scent. *thinking* For anyone still looking for a wedding fragrance, this wouldn’t be a bad choice.
The first impression is white flowers, wonderfully delicate and quite close to the skin. Fruity? No, on my skin, only a hint of pear and mostly osmanthus comes through. I googled the scent of osmanthus and found this: "What distinguishes Osmanthus heterophyllus from Ilex aquifolium is the intensity of the floral scent, because although the holly flower also has a pleasant scent, the osmanthus does not carry its German name 'Duftblüte' without reason: The white flowers that appear at the beginning of summer smell significantly more intense and exude a very pleasant, sweet scent." Apparently, these are the white flowers I perceive.
In the base, the scent briefly threatens to drift into the generic. It becomes noticeably sweeter, and the freshness of the top note fades for a moment. Apparently, the water lily initially does not have the chance to assert itself against the peach nectar. After a while, it seems to have succeeded, as the scent loses some sweetness and becomes fresher and more floral again. A hint of jasmine also emerges, a rarely beautiful, fresh jasmine. Not overwhelming, not animalic or even fecal (sorry, but that has happened before). Here, even I, as a jasmine hater, like it.
The base is very soapy. I can detect woods, as well as white (!) musk, even though only "musk" is noted up top. The scent is very clean and very soapy. I perceive nothing of raspberry or vanilla.
"The Key" really surprised me. A star fragrance has been launched that is quite different from the usual suspects. It is as special as the fragrances from D.v. Teese. However, it is quite close to the skin and may be too delicate for some. It lasts well, though. I can perceive this wonderful soapy note in the base for a long time. Only after about 6 hours do I smell nothing anymore. Which is not bad for this price range. Many expensive fragrances from perfumeries don’t last any longer anyway.
A test is definitely worth it. Perhaps one or two people will also be positively surprised by this scent.
