Intoxicated or just "pretty nice"?

Intoxicated by Kilian - great name, beautiful flacons, luxurious house!
Some of these exclusive fragrances, could already test in the past, from which here on Parfumo much positive feedback is to be taken. Among them were mostly heavy, almost liqueur-like scents, like Back to Black, Gold Knight, Black Phantom,
Straight to Heaven, etc.
Mostly as very high quality and delicious I found these, but none of them could be put on the wish list, the good impression still took root!

The interest in Intoxicated arose much later, through random clicks on YouTube. A certain lady, whose taste I did appreciate, raved about this fragrance in her videos.
Mysterious, sexy and with a lot of coffee, this is how it should smell!
So I was all the more excited when I bought Layton Exclusif (here again a big thank you to DanielB), a sample of the mystical Kilian scent was included.
My expectations were quite high in this respect and I secretly hoped that the scent would be in the direction of the Black Phantom, which I remembered as a delicious dark coffee scent.

-But now to the fragrance itself:
Intoxicated starts very surprisingly and at the same time, somehow a bit confusing...
Strangely enough, I perceive bubbly, sparkling notes like eucalyptus, with bitter dark chocolate, which could almost remind me of a chocolate sauna.
totally crazy!
I can't take out single notes of the fragrance pyramid, especially at the beginning, and I am a bit overwhelmed by the unexpected start.

In the course of time you can perceive some cinnamon and a slight cardamom note, which is much "brighter" than I usually know. Instead of strong dark coffee, I perceive rather brown chocolate, which certainly doesn't open as bitterly as at the beginning. The base of the fragrance is carried by mocha coffee, probably more in the direction of spiced milk chocolate with, let's say, a "little shot" of coffee, on top.
I also notice a slight "old school" touch, which is not disturbing at all, but in combination with the coffee/chocolate sweetness, it definitely reminds me of the A-Men series by Mugler.
The fragrance sounds delicious, as a gourmand lightly whipped mocha and is easy to use.

Despite the inevitable theory that Intoxicated is, even if only remotely, a copy of a designer scent, I find it extremely difficult to describe and judge the scent...

And how do you now evaluate a long awaited, highly praised fragrance, neutral, marked by many ideas?

I'll try to get it out in the open...
the fragrance is definitely a pleasure and will be quite well received. Despite the sweetness, it is certainly not too feminine or even unbearable - liqueur/heavy. Durability and sillage are moderate and also cut a good figure.
But if you consider the unbelievably proud price for a niche fragrance which also bears the name Kilian, it can only be described as pleasant, tasty, on the whole "quite nice".
Designers and niche market are sometimes very close to each other and that can be completely ok! :-)

Thanks for your time.
