Intoxicated or just "pretty nice"?
Intoxicated by Kilian - great name, beautiful flacons, luxurious house!
Some of these exclusive fragrances, could already test in the past, from which here on Parfumo much positive feedback is to be taken. Among them were mostly heavy, almost liqueur-like scents, like Back to Black, Gold Knight, Black Phantom,
Straight to Heaven, etc.
Mostly as very high quality and delicious I found these, but none of them could be put on the wish list, the good impression still took root!

The interest in Intoxicated arose much later, through random clicks on YouTube. A certain lady, whose taste I did appreciate, raved about this fragrance in her videos.
Mysterious, sexy and with a lot of coffee, this is how it should smell!
So I was all the more excited when I bought Layton Exclusif (here again a big thank you to DanielB), a sample of the mystical Kilian scent was included.
My expectations were quite high in this respect and I secretly hoped that the scent would be in the direction of the Black Phantom, which I remembered as a delicious dark coffee scent.

-But now to the fragrance itself:
Intoxicated starts very surprisingly and at the same time, somehow a bit confusing...
Strangely enough, I perceive bubbly, sparkling notes like eucalyptus, with bitter dark chocolate, which could almost remind me of a chocolate sauna.
totally crazy!
I can't take out single notes of the fragrance pyramid, especially at the beginning, and I am a bit overwhelmed by the unexpected start.

In the course of time you can perceive some cinnamon and a slight cardamom note, which is much "brighter" than I usually know. Instead of strong dark coffee, I perceive rather brown chocolate, which certainly doesn't open as bitterly as at the beginning. The base of the fragrance is carried by mocha coffee, probably more in the direction of spiced milk chocolate with, let's say, a "little shot" of coffee, on top.
I also notice a slight "old school" touch, which is not disturbing at all, but in combination with the coffee/chocolate sweetness, it definitely reminds me of the A-Men series by Mugler.
The fragrance sounds delicious, as a gourmand lightly whipped mocha and is easy to use.

Despite the inevitable theory that Intoxicated is, even if only remotely, a copy of a designer scent, I find it extremely difficult to describe and judge the scent...

And how do you now evaluate a long awaited, highly praised fragrance, neutral, marked by many ideas?

I'll try to get it out in the open...
the fragrance is definitely a pleasure and will be quite well received. Despite the sweetness, it is certainly not too feminine or even unbearable - liqueur/heavy. Durability and sillage are moderate and also cut a good figure.
But if you consider the unbelievably proud price for a niche fragrance which also bears the name Kilian, it can only be described as pleasant, tasty, on the whole "quite nice".
Designers and niche market are sometimes very close to each other and that can be completely ok! :-)

Thanks for your time.

Favorite scents don't need a "10"
L'Homme is now almost a classic of the house!
In 2013 I had got to know this beautiful fragrance by chance through a colleague at that time. He raved about the cylindrical flacons with beautiful lids...
At that time, there was not yet the mass of flanks, so the black bottle La Nuit de L'Homme was also tested, which I found "quite okay" :)
(Only afterwards did I become aware of all the hype about La Nuit)

Nevertheless, I had almost always liked the more classic L'Homme with its citric-spicy freshness better than the darker competitor.
Both were invitingly sweet, but the composition of L'Homme was more reminiscent of another very popular fragrance of mine: Boss Bottled
For a Bottled fan the victory was clear, oh if the fragrances are not twins!

Both fragrances of the house, L'Homme and La Nuit de L'Homme had been equipped with such a great quality and so finely tuned to each other that I decided to buy both.
What great scents of the 2013 batches, which opened up completely new scent experiences for me!
YSL L'Homme immediately became the new signature scent and was quite well received, but I personally liked it best! I was amazed how versatile this fragrance was, as it was able to combine the balance between sweetness and freshness so well that it was a real eye-catcher even in summer at over 30 degrees!
Today I would definitely choose something fresher ;-)

The fragrance still reminds me of that wonderful carefree time, unbelievable what perfumes can do in our heads...

Of course I had used up the 2013 bottles and the current batches are no longer interesting enough for me. Of course I soon stamped this one as a linear sweet tonka scent. And of course the search for similarly great scents had to continue!
So why the hell do I still rate this scent so highly today?

Quite simply, I've noticed how I've been going in circles over the years. And I don't mean that in a negative way!

When I only smell the bottle today, he still brings a smile to my lips! This may sound a bit corny, but that is a fact I can admit to myself today.
Even today, thanks to this great community, I was able to refund a Btach from 2013, at a fair price!
Even today I still enjoy this wonderful fragrance, whose description here would be almost unnecessary...

If I were to think of my "Top 10" fragrances today, I would almost always think of the same fragrances as when I started with perfume.
So I can't help but love that smell!

I hope that I can keep my interest in these, in the great offshoots -La Nuit de L'Homme- and of course in the classic -Opium pour Homme EdP- , and that these fragrances will accompany me for many years to come...

I am of course aware that many fragrances that can show more scent changes and more depth are also to be found in the niche world!
However, I am also aware that my favourite fragrances do not need a "10 out of 10"...
...at least not yet! :)

Thanks for reading!

How could I?
How could I have rated that scent so highly??

Boss Bottled was the very first fragrance that I, too, was mercilessly addicted to!
It must have been 17 years ago...

I seem to remember that a good friend of mine owned a Bottled clone, which I liked very much right away. His father funnily enough owned Boss Bottled. What a great kind of scent!!!

When I had my first bottle of Boss Botteld, it immediately became my daily companion and my favourite fragrance of all! This fruity and spicy composition was my absolute favourite for years and countless bottles were used up
I think today we would speak of signature ;)

Of course the scent is known and doesn't need many words, but I have the feeling that I always perceived Boss Botteld a little bit differently...
At that time I already perceived it as rather lemony and woody, with others reporting about a lot of apple. I have always assumed that this was spoken of a sour, green apple.
Why apple?
I always thought citrus fruits were sweeter. So if apple, then sweet-red!
Even today I'm not sure about the green apple! :-)

At some point I lost interest in this classic.
It was partly too common and when I got to know Fahrenheit 32 from Dior, BB moved more and more into the background...
Many years later I wanted to get a bottle of this good all-rounder again, because it was suitable for quite a lot of situations.
And of course this did not get past one (or even several) reformulations. For me it was not at all as intensive as before! I just thought my taste had changed and the scent had only been interesting for a certain period of my life.

At some point Boss Bottled Intense edt came on the market.
At that time I had already discovered the great first batches of YSL L'Homme and YSL La Nuit de L'Homme, which replaced the part of the bottle. I would still want to recognize slight parallels of the fragrances through the spicy sweetness...
For me, the Bottled DNA was pretty much, shall we say, "sucked out". That Intense edt was no longer a match. And actually I found the successor much too "gummy sweet"! I don't know why, but there was nothing woody and spicy about it.
I just didn't want to like it anymore...

As every designer was given a perfume variant, the "Swiss Army Knife" was also to be given an Intense edt, in which durability and silage were to appear more strongly again.
Well, that can't be helped! Almost no perfume variant in the mainstream is significantly stronger than the edts!

-Bottled EdP-
I was amazed to find out how good that smell was after all!
Intense, strong, sweet, fruity, spicy, warm and with a present projection
This can't be!
It brought back memories of those days...

It looked like the original without being diluted or synthetic.
I think if you would compare the vintage version with this one today, the perfume would definitely be heavier and sweeter
Which does not bother me at all with this scent!
Yes, it is not wearable all year round and probably not the better all-rounder, but there are differences in quality that make the Intense EdP fuller, rounder and more mature.
I find this "heaviness", which reminds me of slightly powdered vanilla, paired with this sweet-spicy note, simply so good that it almost seems like a niche version of the current BB!
(And no I don't mean Layton!)

I already feel a little guilty about liking him so much!

Is the scent DNA already so widespread...
Everybody knows that smell already...
It's totally uninteresting and linear for us perfume-nerds...

Not quite for me, apparently!

We are not talking about the Holy Grail...
However, there is something classic, noble, a bit offbeat and at the same time very pleasing about it, that I can't help but ascribe no comment to it. Actually, this also applies to the original version of the fragrance! This DNA was so preachy for those times and of course for my fragrance experiences!

So after all these years, have I fallen for this scent again?
but of course!

Can I rate this fragrance so highly?
how can I not!

How could I?

Designer in perfection!
La Nuit de L'Homme Le Parfum, which I often missed out on, has really impressed me lately! Strange that it is again a scent of YSL... :)

The fragrance opens peppery and spicy with a great freshness and immediately wants to enliven to action! Wow, I'm into that kind of opening!
In the further course the smell becomes beautifully dark-fruity, accompanied with a shower gel note and a breath of the original La Nuit is to be guessed.
The durability is different than feared, really decent although I had read a lot of negative about it. To this must be said that I describe the 2010ner BATCH.
(The current version will then appear here as a supplement.)
Le Parfum continues in the drydown with more woody notes, while the fruity-berry notes are still pressing.
The quality is really fine despite or even because of the shower gel note, and makes the fragrance more adult and somewhat more distinctive through this, compared to the original La Nuit.
Grade for evening or special occasions I find it top and not as "good" as the original.
The Sillage is not exactly the strongest, but is for this already very intensive, spicy, fruity fragrance sufficient and very pleasant.
I have to say that I underestimated this fragrance in the beginning, because I wanted a more intense La Nuit de L'Homme and didn't give the fragrance a fair chance.
A mistake, especially since tastes change and this one here is absolutely male, striking, dark but also sweet, seductive.
For me it smells like a designer in perfection!

The eternal number one!
Fahrenheit 32 is a unique fragrance that you can barely smell.
This fereint cold and heat, freshness and sweetness, modern and class in a great quality.
The flanker of the primeval rock Fahrenheit, goes in a more modern direction and could definitely look a bit unisex. It starts slightly fresh, fruity with strong orange blossom and some incense, I take too was. The further course becomes sweet through increasing vanilla and one recognizes the Ur-Fahrenheit in the center of the fragrance.
It is refreshing in summer and warming in winter. Durability and Sillage are very tidy and compliments have already been given. Simply a great all-rounder!

I had gotten to know the scent of Dior around 2010, and he really knocked me out of my socks back then! I had never had anything better before and smelled with such a quality. Defenitely one of the reasons I was interested in perfumes.
Several bottles were used up and the after shave was great too!

In the following years I was looking for more great scents which could push F32 from the Tron. I got to know great fragrances from YSL, Parfums de Marly, Chanel and Dior themselves.
After almost twenty years of perfume experience I have to admit that this one is something very special for me personally and remains the eternal number one! :)
