Underwhelmed
Not a bad perfume, but not a great one. Very faint citrus opening and then a sheer, arid tea. The base is nicer--smooth, semi-sweet woods--but it, too, is barely a whisper. I had to put 5 sprays on my arm to really smell this (and that is A LOT of juice given the atomizer here is a firehose). Wore it to work with 3 sprays total and couldn't smell it on me at all.

I will say, though, that I get comparisons to ELDO Like This, and even Milano Fragranze Panettone--they all share an earthy, immortelle/spice thang. It took me a while to place, but Darbouka also smells like a bit like Bvlgari Black, but without the leather.

I just cannot get this thing to perform on my skin, so it's a bust.

Adventure in the Arabian desert
I was looking for a tea scent and I don't quite know what I have found. Darbouka is supposed to be an imaginary tea and I can see that. This perfume is not "just" a tea scent though. Wearing this scent makes me picture myself in the desert: it is 9pm, the hot sun has already disappeared and it is cooling down. I am next to my tent at the fireplace. Our camels are close by resting under the fig trees and I am enjoying my last bites dried fruits while having my first sip of THE DARBOUKA.
Wow- what an experience.

Tea in the Sahara (without me)
Thé Darbouka: probably the most interesting scent from the "L'Orchestre Parfum" series!
It evokes the Sahara and an "imaginary tea", a tea that the real scent notes do not provide, but which could emerge in our imagination as a scent image. Slightly spicy and initially sweet (candied fruits like in a Christmas fruitcake with dates and raisins), this fragrance has a special aura defined by several components that make a perfume unbearable for me: caraway (smells musty to me), immortelle (I have never liked a perfume with a strong immortelle note), and oud (faintly detectable in the drydown).
Anyone who does not have such a problem with caraway, immortelle, and oud as I do should give this scent a chance, as it has something very unique and individual: it is smoky, spicy, and truly "very niche" - much more original than the other fragrances in the series. Unfortunately, I do not like it, but I can imagine that others might find it very appealing.

Leans masculine in my opinion. Spicy, peppery. Unusual.

Dry and softly spicy (not sharp). Something about this bothers me a bit, I'm not sure what (I usually like caraway).

Clean, light, airy caraway and immortelle with a sheer vanilla cocoa. I'm not picking up much oud here. Very polite, ethereal.

I like immortelle and cumin, but this one is just overly sweet fruits with burnt plastic. Not everything different is good.

Elusive floral-spicy powder cloud (musk?): not a single ingredient can be isolated or identified: indefinite.

You can't really go wrong with tea. But in the dry down, all I can smell is car tires...

Tea infusion with dried fruits, unsweetened and rather dry-synthetic, the last sip tastes a bit woody. Very interesting!

A beautiful, softly powdery spice scent with subtly sweet dried fruit aromas. A lovely everyday companion for cooler days and nights.
