What an amazing scent.

Three words : ambery - sweet - sophisticated.

A must-have for amber lovers or even those with a liking for gourmand fragrances. It's a clear step up from Ambre Superfluide, which I find slightly too cloggy sometimes (though I still enjoy it). This one has incredible longevity, lingering for days, just put on a jacket I wore a few days ago, and the scent is still wonderfully present.

Is it overpriced ? Yes. Like most perfumes nowadays but it's a must have if you like perfumes like angel's Share.

The only small issue is the synthetic peach in the opening but it fades away pretty quickly to leave this masterpiece behind.

First impression: sweet, juicy, and unapologetically bold. Warm cinnamon hits first, colliding with pineapple and a basket of ripe fruits. Plush, indulgent, and immediately attention-grabbing. Very fruit-forward, very confident.

The heart leans hard into richness. Honey in abundance, splashed with rum, softened by rose, and dusted with heliotrope powder. Decadent and almost syrupy - hedonistic, but still surprisingly controlled.

The drydown is where it steadies itself. Sweet amber and vanilla at the core, wrapped in clean musk, with a subtle touch of tobacco adding depth and a quietly masculine edge. No saffron on my skin. Just a smooth, musky warmth that lingers.

Overall, it’s an addictive elixir of amber, black vanilla, and tobacco that sits right at the intersection of Teriaq Intense and Apple Brandy on the Rocks.

It’s a perfume extract, so projection and longevity should be a given. Unfortunately, that wasn’t quite my experience. And at €315 for 100ml, I struggle to justify the price.

Syrupy - but not cloyingly sweet - apple & cinnamon pie. Starts with tart pineapple and synthetic peach. The apple is crisp but slowly transforms into the pie-stage in the heart.
Ends up with the pie with a small sesame visit and a sweet, dark vanilla and tobacco sauce on the side. I’m not sure, but there’s probably a glass of rum somewhere in the room as well. Great longevity and all in all a sweet and spicy goodness in a smooth and luxurious package, perfect for the colder season.
The Superfluide version is slightly…colder and fresher with less honey. Might be the fir in it that makes it a tad bit greener and lighter? Maybe a pinch more rose in Fluide? Whereas the Supermassive holds a deeper and spicier vanilla in the drydown and is a bit nuttier and velvety overall (the heliotrope and saffron mixing it up?). Both very good but Massive takes the win due to the darker complexity (and longevity).
I will probably end up with one of their smaller 11 ml bottles soon…

it smells cold and quite like an AC'd boba shop. you get a waft of sweetness but it's not headache inducing. I smell a bit of funk and there is a leathery touch coming from the saffron but this scent smells quite nice for it to have aromatics and spices. the more I smell it on skin, the more I enjoy it.

i typically dislike sweet scents, but I will make an exception for this scent.

There is something very adult and refined about Ambre Supermassive by LEP. I'd had it on my buy list for over a year after trying it in London but not pulling the trigger as I was on a no-buy at that time. This is one of those fragrances that makes you smile. It did when I tested it and it does now.

Followers of my reviews may know that ambers are a favourite profile of mine, but I find many of them a bit sticky and cloying. Ambre Supermassive is one of my favourites because it is sweet but it also has a mineralic saltiness to it. The tobacco and rum and especially the honey can make profiles like this very hedonistic but extremely difficult to wear during the day or for the office, but Ambre Supermassive very successfully walks a careful line between indulgent richness and refined humility.

The pineapple and sesame in the top are just gorgeous and are another reason why this sits apart from the amber mainstream. It has a similar vibe to the wonderful Delphinus by Creed which is another one that makes me smile to wear it. We have creamy vanilla, amber, musk, tobacco, pineapple, honey, rum, saffron... it is pretty much a greatest hits of perfume notes for me. Ambre Supermassive doesn't shout but it exudes a tremendous confidence I really enjoy.

If you think about it, it is quite a thing to be as good an office wearer as any I have in my collection, but also to be one of the sexiest, most captivating personal scents I have ever come across. The two shouldn't be the same, but somehow they are. Conceptually you are not (I assume?) going for the same effect, are you? This is not a suit, piecharts, Excel formulae and ExCo buzzwords fragrance, and yet somehow it is. Do you want people curling their toes up, rolling their eyes back into their heads, licking their lips and idly thinking about all of the extremely NSFW things they want to do with/to you, when you are presenting the monthly exposure review and sharing some important market trend analysis to senior management around the boardroom table?

Maybe you do. I don't. But maybe you do. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Three Word Summary - The Ultimate Amber

Layering suggestion - try Sel D'Issey EDP by Issey Miyake over the top to bring the saffron, saltiness and minerality up a few notches. You can lighten it up with something like Casanova by Tiziana Terenzi as well. It is incredibly versatile.
