Sensually Sweet: A Warm Summer Evening
It was my first visit to a perfume shop. Profumeria Franco drew me in like a magnet. It had only been a month since my allergy had left me in peace, allowing me to enjoy a perfume for the first time. Instead of the more classic route, I had no touchpoints with the typical drugstore/designer fragrances and unconsciously took a direct leap into the niche world. Sample hunts and blind buys have shaped my journey ever since.
So here I was, on vacation in Italy. More specifically, in Veneto. And the flicker of a passion for perfume began to ignite. Of course, a trip to Venice was already planned, along with a visit to Murano (where I immediately thought of the beautiful bottles from Xerjoff...). In Venice, I wandered through the alleys and over the canals to a certain bridge where that perfume shop was located.
I now stand in front of a small store. Countless niche fragrances stretch over two levels (often read about here, and some already added to my wishlist). I muster the courage to go inside and initially don’t know where to start. Away from the fragrances above the 100 euro mark, five small 30ml bottles catch my eye, which I couldn’t find on Parfumo. They were also quite affordable at 30€. Without high expectations but still curious, my friend and I each test two of them. We are both surprised... The owner chats with us and tells us about the fragrances we just sprayed, saying that they are made here in the shop. She is very friendly and asks me about the scents I have already tried. She brings forward all sorts of bottles, sprays them on test strips, and explains joyfully and passionately about each perfume without trying to push anything on us.
A wonderful stay; I would gladly return there.
Now to Ambrata.
A light sweetness that ignites a desire for more. Amber and woody notes blend wonderfully with a light floral, earthy note of patchouli. It is simple yet very alluring. You don’t know why, but you have to keep smelling it.
A brief description and an Eau de Toilette, but this may be misleading. The longevity is above average. Even on the way home after several hours of the blazing sun of Venice and its islands, all four fragrances were still noticeable. The sillage and projection left me in awe as I wandered through the alleys of Venice, looking around in confusion several times to see if someone had just freshly sprayed something. The narrow alleys, with the - very welcome - breezes, also create a more special scenario.
Grazie mille. Ciao!
