Ephemeral Figs
Every time I see the note of fig in a fragrance, I just have to try it. Of course, this works best when I have a sample, as most fragrances are not available for purchase here on Parfumo, and sometimes you even have to be lucky to find the scent in niche perfumeries.
I simply love the scent of figs (and of course the taste too!) and I look forward even more to the fragrances with this note that I have yet to discover. It hardly matters whether the fragrance is for women or men; the main thing is that I can sniff it! :D
The scent:
The fragrance starts with figs, of course, but also with quite sweet notes that smell a bit synthetic. Additionally, the fig quickly blends with the blackcurrants.
And even if this might just be my impression: The scent has a fruity-sweet background reminiscent of Hubba Bubba bubble gum. However, this impression only lasts about 5 minutes before the fragrance becomes "normally" sweet again. Unfortunately, the blackcurrants have now overshadowed the figs.
In the base, it becomes slightly woody and a light, gentle vanilla appears, which also makes the scent softer. The vanilla soon becomes barely detectable, but that’s okay, as the musk provides a good scent note that is quite pleasant later on.
A bit later, you can catch a whiff of light figs again, but unfortunately, they smell a bit "dry."
The sillage and longevity:
The projection of this fragrance is rather subtle and can be considered below average. This means, as always, that you have to be close to the wearer to smell the scent.
The longevity is about six hours.
The bottle:
The bottle is rectangular, thin, and tall. It has a thick glass base and is filled with yellowish fragrance liquid. The label is octagonal with shiny edges. It displays the name and brand, with part of the name written in beautiful cursive. The cap is cylindrical and gray. Everything is simple, yet still looks high-quality.
* sigh *
Why are the figs so weak?
Well… aside from that, the fragrance still smells quite okay; instead of fresh figs, you later smell more of the blackcurrants and musk. The scent remains warm and gentle and, in my opinion, is an all-rounder that, while too weak for winter, can still be worn at any time.
I also find it not so fruity-sweet later on that it could possibly be considered unisex.
Yes, you can test the fragrance; it’s quite okay. Some will like it less, others certainly more. Well… that’s just how it is.
For those who love figs, I think you should still try these fragrances: Philosykos by Diptyque, Fico di Amalfi by Acqua di Parma, and Premier Figuier by L’Artisan.
