Royal Jungle Cat
ROYAL PAVILLON is a sultry, erotic scent, a perfect choice for "night out". Do not be fooled by the first glue-odor, it is only the alcohol, just let it evaporate. 1 minute later you get a sweet mass of flowers: green jasmine and ylang-ylang (together smells like lilly of the valley) and one of the best lushy rose. Cibet gives an animalic sound to the orchestra, it is slightly resinous and luscious as a stretching big cat.

This wild and sweet exuberancy hides a smack of salty spice beyond the flowers, that plays the leading part at the base. This perfume was dedicated to the paradise, "to speak the myriad secrets of the language of flowers" - as it is written on Etro homepage. So I was surprised that all of the flowers disappeared and a jarring, excellent metallic scent calmed down my unrestful nose. Night came, flowers closed up, time of weapons reaches the royal garden. Or maybe it is an allegory of the winter.

- I donned it 9 hours ago, and it is still recognizable near my skin.
- In the first 3-4 hours the sillage is almost 1 meter.
- I would recommend ROYAL PAVILLON to women, and only the boldest, extremely courageous gentlemen.

Flower Ceremony
Johannes Kühn's greatest wish was to be part of the Flower Ceremony at this year's Biathlon World Championships in Oberhof, which he achieved with a strong sixth place. Unfortunately, I never received such a bouquet as recognition for a sporting success during my active time as a long-distance runner. Not all classic running events host a Flower Ceremony. And when there was one, I was unfortunately too slow.

Flowers and blossoms always manage to bring me joy during my sporting activities. I love their colors and their scents. Besides a sky that turns into the most beautiful shades of pink, red, and orange in the morning, sometimes even purple, the enchanting forest lakes in our region delight me almost the most on my morning runs. They show me that after a long winter, and despite often still icy temperatures in the mornings, I no longer have to wait long for the long-awaited spring. And that always makes me very happy, as I am not a big fan of winter.

This joy is also conveyed by Etro's Royal Pavillon. A Flower Ceremony to spray on, so to speak. This fragrance is lush and so spring-like that the winter blues are quickly forgotten. A wonderful jasmine note, tropical ylang-ylang, tuberoses, magnolias, and roses announce the brighter, warmer season. The scent reminds me of lush blooming shrubs in spring that exude a similar aroma.

Despite its opulence, Royal Pavillon feels wonderfully natural to me. I always have the feeling of standing outside in the spring sun, welcoming a beautiful day. The animalic notes that some perfumers have perceived here are fortunately not particularly dominant for me. Or the flowers simply have so much power that beavers & co. always remain nicely in the background.

Of course, this beautiful floral scent, launched by the Italian house in the late eighties, is no longer available. For me, alongside musk, it is the most beautiful of this brand. Or at least one of the most beautiful.

A big thank you to Violett for the testing opportunity.

In Lazienki Park
One of those capitals of Europe that still stands a bit in the second row behind tourist heavyweights like Paris, Rome, or even London and Berlin is the Polish city of Warsaw. Nevertheless, there are wonderful places to explore there - at the melting point between cultural Central and Eastern Europe. One of them is Lazienki Park, the largest urban green space in Warsaw - located in the south of the so-called 'Trakt Królewski', the famous Royal Route, which consists of several representative streets - Krakowskie Przedmiescie, Nowy Swiat, and Aleje Ujazdowskie.

In Lazienki Park, there are temples, orangery, and water features. There is a theater on an island and semi-wild peacocks - and in the summer families, couples, skateboarders, and picnickers - just like in probably every park in the world. And yet it radiates a calmness and serenity and a strangely nostalgic old-fashionedness like a garden on a faded postcard - rediscovered in a box of forgotten treasures from an era that always seemed to have passed. There are quiet hollow paths next to well-trodden avenues, where one suddenly finds oneself completely alone in the midst of Warsaw - and in a completely different time.

A bit of nostalgic old-fashionedness and the feeling of unexpectedly rediscovering something thought to be lost are also characteristics of Etro's Royal Pavillon, even though it is not yet thirty years old. And although it is named after English gardens and not Polish ones, its old-fashioned floral quality and the formal greenery that surrounds this floral aspect fit wonderfully with a tradition of contemporary Poland, which can also be observed particularly on the green and colorful paths of Lazienki Park: in Poland, some (older) gentlemen still kiss the hands of some (older) ladies.

Whether one perceives hand-kissing as touching gallantry or as obsolete - and whether the hand-kiss can, will, and should hold in Poland of the Facebook/Twitter/Instagram generation - that may be debated. However, hand-kissing gallants (with white, pure batiste handkerchiefs - just in case a lady needed one) in the cool discreet darkness of Lazienki Park and hand-kissed ladies (with artificial violets on their lapels) are touching and nostalgic and very beautiful. And there are pavilions - whether royal or not - among the crunching gravel paths and old trees as well.

Conclusion: an old-fashioned floral fragrance full of weathered beauty and graceful gallantry. More one for dreaming than for the sober now and here.

My mom always said, "follow your gut...
...the mind holds too many ifs and buts." I should have listened to my mom and followed my gut. But I let myself be influenced by the pyramid - especially castoreum and civet - and Antoine's comment, and didn't buy it. A very nice member sent me a sample of it, which I dared to test today.

WOW, what a fragrance. Instantly on my wish list, instantly scouring the internet for the best price! Found a great offer that lasts for another 11 days and immediately added it to my list. I'm getting that.

Royal Pavillon - what a beautiful, poetic name - starts off fresh and green, so that after spraying I thought, "okay, pretty, but really nothing special." But after 10 minutes, a very familiar scent wafted into my nose, a scent that I really like: tuberose. But a tuberose on a bed of cream, so creamy and so soft. However, when I realized that tuberose isn't listed at all, I was surprised at the effect jasmine can have in combination with mimosa, rose, and ylang-ylang.

I'm still not clear why the floral scents are listed as top notes, because the top note, which usually lasts no longer than 10 - 30 minutes, shows a completely different side, a fresh and green side, with a certain zest and bitterness to it.
Sandalwood and vetiver definitely take away the piercing sharpness that jasmine often has in fragrances - I experienced that yesterday with Campos de Ibiza. Honestly, I don't quite understand the role of the moss.

In any case, the scent from now on remains in this beautiful, soft, creamy, and slightly sweet tuberose note. There are no animalistic traits at all; perhaps the vanilla gives the creaminess more space and longevity, as the scent lingers quite a while. The sillage is also noteworthy; I can perceive the scent even while typing this comment (by the way, in the 10-finger system, so sitting upright).

I like puristic scents - that's how I describe them - so a certain one-dimensionality doesn't bother me. I enjoy this fragrance because it is - like the name - very romantic.

A Painting by Kinkade
Yesterday, there was a round of doctor visits.

Starting with the veterinarian, then on to the "Laser Show" at the orthopedist - and finally a shot at the family doctor.
I was glad to be able to drop into my perfumery after this "torture."

A place of calm and tranquility - my spa.
The owner could actually charge a spa tax.

And there, Royal Pavilion was waiting for me.

Just the name draws me in - it speaks of a small flower-covered refuge, where one experiences a romantic tête-à-tête or is alone with oneself and feels content.
Both scenarios are evoked by the scent - with romance truly being its theme.

Idyllic images by Kinkade come to life before my eyes, as lush pavilions in enchanted parks were his specialty.
The colorful fragrance allows me to dream into the scenes.
Red roses entwine the columns and envelop me in velvet - overpowered by the enchanting ylang.
The tuberose deepens the dreamlike feeling.
Mimosa adds a sentimental touch, warmed by the clove.

A beautiful, welcome dream that faithfully accompanies me even during the day.

Roaring powdery creamy floral perfume with a tender animalic drydown. Does not enter wild dark territories, keeps polite to others.

Balanced between ylang-ylang / various other white flowers and green moss, strongly powdery, shaded, like a cool bed.

Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Mimosa, and oak moss.
Lightly animalistic, rich, and feminine floral scent.
I almost always like Etro.
