fresh roses for you
It starts with a blast of citrusy freshness with the company of roses. It can be very alluring for those who would love to smell roses a lot. It mellows out to something more powdery, and that citrusy freshness kind of fades out. That floral vibe is present throughout its life.
Final verdict:
If you like fresh floral scents with mellow sweetness, you should try this one for sure. It's a simple scent but well-made and of good quality.
The longevity is on the average side, which is fine for a fresh scent and, I can't be the judge of projection as always from testing from a sample.
P.s: As I always say, test it yourself and be the judge from your own experience without being stuck in the hype train.

"The term Grisette referred in 19th-century French literature to a young, unmarried woman of lower status, usually from the upper part of the lower class, who earned her living independently as a laundress, but also as a seamstress (Midinette), washerwoman, or factory worker." This can be read on Wikipedia.

This doesn't sound particularly glamorous, but when you look at the Grisette in various operettas, films, etc., they are often described as quite vivacious young women. The Austrian counterpart might have been the "Wiener Wäschermadln," and their colleagues in Berlin were called Mariechen, were women, and wept over the harshness of the male world. The girls were aptly celebrated in the "Grisettenlied" from Lehar's The Merry Widow, from which I have "borrowed" the title of this review.

A little wink is indeed intended with the title of the fragrance, so we shouldn't expect any real depth. And yet, "Grisette" is a light and cheerful scent, but not a banal one.
I think every woman should have such an uncomplicated, yet perfectly composed fragrance in her collection. Fresh, but not sporty, floral yet not cutesy, and elegant without being overly ladylike.

The opening of Grisette is citrus-floral. It sounds like a common scent, but it puts me in a positive mood and serves as a good remedy against the autumn blues. The rose here seems to primarily temper the citrus notes, preventing any sour impression from forming. It feels tidy, cheerful without becoming overly joyful. A delicate gray veil envelops the fragrance as the heart note makes Grisette noticeably more powdery. Now the name Grisette also fits perfectly. The base, in turn, makes the perfume appear more serious. No girlish giggling, but a soft smile radiates from Grisette now. Life for the Grisettes was certainly not only joyful and carefree; on the contrary, and so I experience the fragrance in its dry down as serious and yes, also elegant.

Fragrances that make it into my collection often have a little break, edges and corners, or a melancholic side. I like Grisette simply because it is a fine scent that neither evokes strong emotions nor radiates eroticism or glamour. It's nice to have it in my collection.

I take it all back
I know that one! is my first thought.
For the first two minutes, I can almost see my mom in front of me, as she breezed through the warm months in the mid/late 90s with her then-great perfume love "Pleasures".

Then the roses slowly and shyly make their appearance.
Not overwhelming and throat-scratching, but very fine and delicate - pale pink rose petals, soft and light like little clouds, floating in a bowl of clear water, on a finely sanded, sun-bleached wooden table. Surrounded by dancing golden sun sparkles that fall through lace curtains.

This scent is as light and clear as the first spring days, when the first snowdrops dare to emerge, when you can smell the approaching warmth in the scent of the wind, when the sun suddenly seems to warm again and you want to shed your winter clothes despite the cold to feel with every pore how life around you begins anew.

As a confessed almost-all-flower-hater, this is hard for me to say now. I almost feel ashamed to admit it.

I like this scent.
Very much indeed.

Grisette - the perfect rose for me?
I am still on the hunt for a rose fragrance that is 100 percent mine. The start of Grisette is almost simultaneously the end of the test: Because this scent is quite sour for my nose at the beginning - and at first whiff, I fear that it is the roses causing this and that this rose fragrance will also be nothing for me. However, since it is a citrusy-bitter-herbaceous acidity, I fortunately do not give up hope right away and wait to see what happens next. And lo and behold, after a short time (about 30 minutes), a rose begins to emerge more clearly, which is exactly how I imagine a rose: delicate, floating, sweet, carefree. Nevertheless, Grisette is not a little girl’s fragrance for me; it has something elegant and unexpected in the background. It feels cool and a bit distant and slightly bitter. Only a look at the fragrance pyramid leads me to suspect that the combination of iris and incense is responsible. Very beautiful and unexpectedly exciting for such a clearly defined rose fragrance! In the dry down, Grisette then becomes quite classic again: woods, musk, and a whisper of vanilla sweetness linger on my skin.
For me, Grisette is the most beautiful rose fragrance I have tested so far. I don’t like it so much in the first 15 minutes due to the citrusy acidity, but then it develops into a dream scent for me. Grisette is a delicate veil of fragrance that has one single, but significant, drawback: unfortunately, it doesn’t last very long on me - after about four hours, I can only perceive the scent directly with my nose on my skin.
I will definitely get a decant of Grisette. I liked the scent so much that I want to wear it longer - and maybe also just spray it generously after some time.
For everyone who struggles with rose fragrances but, like me, would still like to find one, it is definitely worth testing Grisette!

Fine powdery floral soap with a hint of woods.
During my "excursion" to various perfumeries in Heidelberg, I stumbled upon the Lubin fragrance "Grisette" while browsing in the main street. I had to test it. (The shop's perfume expert filled a small vial for me so I could explore it leisurely away from other scents, as I had already smelled quite a bit beforehand). Alongside "Gin Fizz," which I don't like very much, and "Black Jade," which is excellent "on the palate," "Grisette" was a fragrance I had not encountered before. At home, I took on "The Gray," translated into German. It starts fruity and citrusy, with the roses, very unsweetened, making their presence known right from the beginning. There’s also a slight smokiness that becomes noticeable a bit later. However, what is most interesting about this fragrance is the powdery impression, attributed to the iris, which strikes me as the finest, nostalgic soap. There used to be the so-called "Cleopatra" soap, or those from "Roger and Gallet," an old French soap company, that smelled similar. When I was a child, my mother always washed me with such a bar of soap. I always enjoyed it because I then smelled like a "fine lady," and felt so grown-up. Then there was also a "Creme Mouson" that is no longer available today, which we children were also creamed with. This made the fine lady scent even more desirable because it smelled so powdery and fresh. Smelling Lubin's "Grisette" immediately reminded me of that. Gray, as the name of the perfume suggests, is hardly present in the scent. Rather, it is light blue, the color of certain iris varieties. And old rose, the shade of the former "Cleopatra" soap, or the fine, noble powder, or some roses.......

Montparnasse, June 1970. Children's laughter between the buildings, pigeons cooing from the roof, roses blooming in the backyard, laundry fluttering in the wind.

Cool-sweet and lemon-yellow, the April morning dawns,
the garden's rose-red tail sings a soft smoke song.
The heart feels light and wide.

Creamy, not perfumed. So delicate and beautiful. A little too floral for me, yet almost perfect. Iris caresses Rose.

Grisette smells of citrus fruits and roses. She's shy and quickly retreats. Look, she's already running away.

A truly wonderful spring scent, fresh, citrusy rose. Powdery and feminine, almost girlish, transparent, with an extraordinary touch of iris.

Citrusy, summery light, elegant, rose-powdery, friendly, subtle and close to the skin. Unfortunately, way too fleeting. What a shame!

Often underestimated, but loved by me: A friendly-fresh rose scent with a subtle gray veil from Thomas Fontaine's proven hand.
