A Difficult Case Becomes Love
"Epidor" - often tested and not understood. Seen as heavily discounted and not even thought of buying in my dreams. Then I finally found my way to you and regretted not having purchased you. And now you have disappeared from the sales floor :(
I got to know the good one on a gray spring day. Sprayed it right on my wrist and was completely disgusted. It smelled sweet to me with a strong note of cat pee. That cat pee! It has happened to me a couple of times that fragrances snuck that note in. Well-known, beloved scents like Amouage "Memoir Woman" or an Amouage Opus (forgot which one it was). I don't know which ingredients make me sense the pee - musk or incense or the combination of both or something else entirely. I still need to find that out. But back to the story...
At that time, I bought a different fragrance. And received the Epidor original sample as a free gift. I sniffed at that sample often. It attracted me and repelled me at the same time. Then I took it with me on our trip to Tuscany. It was hot in Tuscany at the time - never less than 35 degrees. One day, I cheerfully used my sample. And there it was - the right decision. The sun on my skin, the breathtakingly beautiful landscapes around me, and "Epidor." How beautifully it revealed itself: the pee was gone, the sillage was seductive, and it created images.
There is a human touch in the scent. The fragrance has a clear, slightly animalistic touch for me. I smell and see fresh, sweet baked goods and people - perhaps farmers' women, warmed by the blazing sun of the day, returning from morning fieldwork, freshly made up and enjoying a holiday. Musk is beautiful here, I think, simultaneously creating the feeling of the cotton shirt and heated, human skin.
An absolutely stunning fragrance that pulls you in. However, for me, it seems only wearable in hot temperatures.
The falcon is great, and the sillage and longevity are good: 7-8 hours.

Ladies in the Wheat Field Temptation!
Today I'm going to talk about a Lubin fragrance. More or less voluntarily, though…!
Because I received a sample of this scent from a perfumer who likes to refer to herself as a delicious pastry (you perfumers are all really crazy!! :D), and she said that this fragrance is absolutely wonderful and that I MUST find it absolutely wonderful too!!!

Do you see under what conditions I have to test fragrances? I have to like what you think is great! And woe betide me if I don't!! And so it goes day after day! *sigh*
:DD

At least the bottle has a curvy shape, making the testing a bit more enjoyable when looking at the bottle, as it somehow reminds you of feminine beings, right? At least a little! This is how I like to test fragrances that are pushed on me! Oh man, I must really be a desperate single if I'm comparing bottles to ladies, right? No no no, don't say anything, just be glad that I'm not currently testing a Gaultier fragrance, whose bottles are really eye-catching, mu ha ha ha :DD
Bah, I'm rambling again,…

Anyway, if you're looking for this fragrance, you might find images of wheat. Wheat symbolizes fertility and prosperity, and these are exactly the things this fragrance is supposed to represent, created to evoke the harvest time in France at the beginning of the 20th century. Or something like that :))

Well then… let's see if it smells like wheat!

The Fragrance:
At the beginning, I actually smell something like hay and wheat, although not quite, but it feels that way. In any case, you can definitely smell neroli, which becomes increasingly intense. The jasmine makes the fragrance sweeter, although at first, it smells more feminine than unisex. However, it almost seems like the jasmine quickly disappears and the sweetness then comes more from the musk, even though this shouldn't be listed in the fragrance notes here. Gradually, more fragrance notes emerge, such as sandalwood, powdery-soft notes, and tonka bean.
From the heart note onwards, you can perceive this spring-like aura of standing in a field surrounded by flowers (but also wheat or grain) much better. It is a beautiful and pleasant scent that becomes softer and gentler, remains sweet-floral, and in the end, gets a nice "kick" of tonka bean with vanilla. In the later base, tonka bean and vanilla become the strongest fragrance notes. Initially, you smell the tonka bean more strongly for a while, but later this note also weakens a bit, so that in the very late base, the vanilla is the most prominent scent.
Unfortunately, in my opinion, the fragrance remains exclusively feminine until the end.

The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is okay, so the fragrance is good to smell on someone. Not from a very far distance, but still, you don't have to get too close.
The longevity is also good, and you can smell the fragrance for more than ten hours.

The Bottle:
The curvy bottle (*sigh* :D) somewhat resembles a trophy or vase, is transparent, and has no label. The neck is gilded, and you can see the brand name on it. The cap is flat like a disc, yellow, and completes the whole look. At first glance, everything looks simple, but it also looks quite nice!

Aaaah,… well I have to agree with that pastry-like perfumer from the introduction. The fragrance has indeed turned out to be absolutely wonderful. But unfortunately, it has become something only for ladies, as it really smells very feminine. And as I said, it smells great. So great that you'd want to devour the fragrance wearer right away, for example in a wheat field (… yes yes, the fantasies of an eternal single :D),… um… but of course NOT during the harvest season, argh! :DD

Anyway, the fragrance indeed has a grainy aura, without directly smelling like wheat, which works nicely alongside the floral-sweet and vanilla-powdery soft notes. It radiates a fresh, spring-like aura and fits very well in spring and summer. It comes across well during the day, but with such a fragrance, you could also go out very well (to be, as I said, devoured…. *siiiiigh* :D).

In any case, it is worth a sniff, and you should definitely try it :)

Caresses, warms, and relaxes
Orange blossom and jasmine are tamed by plum and violet. They do not radiate out into the world, but are warm-floral-powdery, heavy without being burdensome and lightly sweet but in no way sugary. I feel caressed, warmed, and relaxed. I cannot pick out individual components. I also couldn't detect the woods from the base on any wearing day. The vanilla reveals itself to me after about 4 - 5 hours, while the floral notes have almost completely retreated. And finally, from about the 7th hour, I smell the plum from the top note.

I thank AmiS for the opportunity to test this.

The Hollywood Swing
My maternal grandparents, with whom I spent a large part of my childhood, had a huge garden.
Especially my grandpa spent every free minute there. Everything that one’s heart desired grew there - from flowers to vegetables, fruit trees, herbs, and berry bushes... I often ran around, snacking here, stealing there, playing hide and seek, swinging, playing in the paddling pool, always properly slathered with (those from the former GDR might remember) the sunscreen foam from the orange can.

But the very best was the old Hollywood swing that my grandpa would spruce up every spring.

On the hideously orange-brown patterned, but wonderfully comfortable, shady cushions, I took my afternoon naps and dozed off while all the plants in the garden were wafting their scents in the summer heat.
Or I simply daydreamed and watched the clouds and the sun, which painted different patterns on my legs with each swing movement.

EpidOr is a time travel for me.
I am lying dreamily again on my beloved Hollywood swing, feeling the heat, smelling the garden and the sunscreen, hearing children's laughter, and watching the light spots move.

I expected a Pacific dream coast (sunscreen and vacation) and what do I get? Heavy, dull orange blossom with too much sweetness and hairspray.

It’s probably a woman’s thing: tonka, musk, a bit of floral here and there, sweet and woody base without being annoying: a mystery...

A scent like a beautiful, relaxed early summer day. Delicately fruity, pleasantly warm, not too sweet floral note, sunscreen-like base. Golden!
