What does the perfumer expect from bamboo?
Bambú starts off catastrophically, right from the beginning it hardly differs from no-name perfumes that can be found in €1 stores or on the lowest shelf of drugstores. This synthetic, bland, diluted sweetness, which additionally produces notes of rubber when you hold your nose very close, I think most people know it.
This basic character does not change throughout, but it does weaken somewhat as green-woody (that must be the bamboo) and textile (cotton) reminiscent nuances appear rather inconspicuously. A somewhat tea-like quality is also perceptible from time to time, I think that makes up the so-called spiciness of this fragrance.
After a while, a restrained floral note joins in, very faint woodiness is still present, and the scent also becomes creamy-dry.
In summary, Bambú never shakes off its cheap appearance, and it is also completely underpowered, as sillage and longevity hardly allow the surroundings to take notice of this fragrance. At best, it’s good if you spray it on just to have something on, without much thought, there are days like that too. Boringly yawning if you ask me, how could one make something like bamboo, which has little scent of its own, the theme and thus the namesake of a perfume? Oh well, at least the bottle is well done, it nicely and relatively true-to-nature represents the cross-section of a bamboo stalk, with the segment boundary as the division between the cap and the rest of the bottle, well thought out by the designer.
