You could give it the label "Duftbäumchen", but that would be a bit mean and would not do justice to the naturalness that the individual notes here. Therefore, I say times: forest gourmand.
The fragrance takes a long time to come to rest. Possibly this is intentional, but you can recognize in it, if you want, the living of the forest, which has just not only a single character, a single smell, if you stay in it. Over a needle-mossy base note, this Margiela presents itself sometimes fresh, sometimes dark, sometimes sweet. "Soul of the Forest" is representative of a fragrance family you don't often encounter. If you want to stand out, you may grab it here. Personally, it smells too much "only" of forest; in the way that e.g. Tom Ford's Oud Wood smells too much "only" of wood. This has - for me - something of an entertaining gimmick, less of a fragrance for normal situations. A whole bottle of this I would never consume, a small filling for Halloween or for's mushroom picking you can get but.
As I said: beautifully made, also not unpotent fragrance, but hardly usable. Therefore, a point deduction in the rating.
