I can't make sense of this
I briefly considered writing my comment fittingly as a Haiku, that traditional Japanese poetic form consisting of three groups of words with 5-7-5 sound units.
However, I quickly abandoned that idea, as it would have taken me forever, and the information about the fragrance would have been far too brief.
So I prefer to do it quite conventionally, although Bois d'Hinoki doesn’t exactly inspire creative heights. It is simply a nice fresh-green Eau de Parfum with an initial reference to the citrus-floral. This is where the Hinoki wood also comes into play a bit, which indeed has a rather citrusy scent.
What I find less agreeable and cannot make sense of is the presence of fig. It is fine, natural, and relatively subtle - but in relation to the namesake Hinoki, it is somewhat too dominant.
In the small finale, it then gracefully settles down with the softness of benzoin and light cedarwood.
Otherwise, Bois d'Hinoki fits extraordinarily well with its Japanese attitude to a refined and delicately structured theme like Haiku. However, when it comes to fig, many may find themselves out of the picture.
