Surprisingly nice
I reach to this release, after a good amount of hype, with some reluctance. Mauboussin is not a high quality fragrance brand and, despite the original Homme which I find decent but not memorable (talking about the vintage twist and spray bottle), the rest is pretty irrelevant and mediocre. The spicy Private Club flanker is not bad but the budget spent on it wasn't sufficient to make it shine in the drydown, turning it to a let down.

So, this one, created by Karine Sereni, who famously had some highlights (Gucci Homme II, Lalique Ombre Noire and Occitane Eau des Baux), has fig leaf as a note along with some woods. Pretty simple, right? Well, if you are searching for a fig, you can hardy pass this one, since there isn't any fig leaf or even fruit accord here. But, in fact, there is a fruity quality to it and a creamy woody drydown.

It starts off very fruity and spicy to my nose. Reminiscent of a spicy tea (Gucci Pour Homme II, is that you?). First of all, don't run to it expecting a clone or substitute for the discontinued, and not that great, Gucci Pour homme II, because you'll not find it here. But it definitely shares some similarities due to that spicy tea note.

This is pretty much the main accord here along with a dry and strange sandalwood (possibly a variety that I'm not familiar). It became less sharp and fruity and more woody as it dries. Cedar is present in the background.

The fragrance finishes with a nice and pleasant masculine vibe, decent quality and good performance.

The price is excellent and it might become one of the best cheapies for the last years. Nothing groundbreaking, of course, but far better than many other expensive stuff and with a nice and well done composition.

I am surprised by the quality and the composition and, for this price point, you can't go much better than this.

Recommended for any cheapie hunter and afficionado in general. Nice one.

Happiness
This is a mildly sweet and green scent. A little bit fresh and quite creamy. The fig is prominent and very well blended with the sandalwood resulting in a well rounded smooth fragrance. It's one of the most pleasant scents I 've smelled. It makes me feel happy. Simple as that. I want to use my other perfumes each day but I simply have to grab this one. It doesn't have that WOW factor. It is a very simple scent. But it's a total steal at that price in my opinion. I can't think this will leave anyone displeased. Longevity and sillage could be somewhat better but they are not really needed here. This is not such a scent. This is a fragrance to be used frequently and to make you smile.

All-Star Perfumery
Today is a great day when you discover one of the best fragrances of all time at an unbelievable price. These types of perfumes only come around once or twice a decade, and I’m excited to share with you the first written review on the web about this absolute masterpiece you can’t afford to miss. Ignore the house’s name, which is usually associated with affordable scents, and ignore that most of us are probably burned out on everything released today, which smells like a copy of a copy.

TOP NOTES
The opening is just brilliant, and the type of fragrance I enjoy the most is a versatile quality composition. The bright and semi-sweet bergamot and a touch of zesty lemons add a citrusy sharpness that is both invigorating and slightly dark, sometimes even hinting at a jammy quality.

HEART NOTES
When the initial burst of fresh citruses begins to fade, the heart of Une Histoire d’Homme Irrésistible gently takes centre stage. Imagine the crisp, green scent of fig leaves mingling with the subtle sweetness of the fig fruit with a couple of grains of black pepper atop it. Just beautiful.

BASE NOTES
When the fragrance settles, the base notes reveal a grounding, enduring character that defines its masculine depth.
Citrusy, spicy and green aspects never genuinely fade away even when it is completely dry down, but they are anchored by a subtle yet persistent cedarwood and a touch of vetiver that lends a refined, earthy quality to the overall composition.

OVERALL
In the end, this creation leaves you with a comforting sense of refined confidence and understated charm.
With its thoughtful balance and elegant presentation, this fragrance feels like a personal signature that seamlessly fits into busy workdays and intimate evenings out. I almost skipped this release due to the usually overwhelming greens we find in fig-forward fragrances, but in this case, it is something completely different.

Juicy Fruit in a Bottle
Yet another cheapie fragrance claiming to contain a fig note (fig leaf in this case) where there is none. At least not a realistic one. Before this I reviewed Romamor Uomo claiming the same (fig fruit in that case) and failing miserably at that in the same way. And believe me I know what I'm talking about since when I turn my head a just little to the left I can see a big fig tree through the window, which I planted myself in my garden. If you really want a realistic fig leaf note in a cheap fragrance, go for Guess 1981 Indigo instead.

Apart from that, this is a very minimalistic fragrance really, REALLY heavy on bergamot supported by mixture of Linalool, Citral, Limonene and other citrus-like usual suspects. The opening is astringent, pervasive, which is probably what people having no experience with the actual smell of fig mistakenly associate with the bitter greenness of the actual fig leaf. Right after spraying I get the association with the Juicy Fruit chewing gum just more bitter and borderline nauseating. Not a pleasant opening at all. All the development you get towards the drydown here is partial smoothing of the opening with the sandalwood note (hardly any mysore here) and a barely there woody note which is synthetic just like the rest of this fragrance.

To succeed at minimalism, you have to a) use good quality materials and/or b) be J. C. Ellena and none of this obviously applies here. I tried to find my way to this fragrance on multiple occasions but I just can't get over the heavy citrus here, which never ever goes away and does not vibe with me the way it's mixed at all.

Addendum: After comparing this side-by-side with Ombre Noire, the obvious simplicity of this mixture is even more pronounced - this seems like a lazy, phoned-in reduction of ON's top note to a whole fragrance. Where ON has nice development from top through heart to bottom, this just lingers and lingers without any development whatsoever.

Excellent Signature for a bargain
For less than $35, this is an absolute masterpiece. The opening is a nice green fig leaf that gets a little tang from the bergamot. As it dries down, the sandalwood and cedar provide a woody, earthy, slightly resinous accord that is very warm and masculine.

I think it works great year round, especially in an office setting. It's not overly loud, but has a nice intimate scent bubble that leaves a faint trail. I find myself smelling my wrist often and enjoying the scent while I'm working. It's unique enough that it stands out in a crowd, and I get about 6 hours or so of performance from it.

This is a scent that I could easily call my signature, and I find myself wanting to come back to it over and over again.

Wonderful perfume, a woody (with fig mixture) versatile. Unbeatable price (I paid €19) and quality performance.

Lovely and nostalgic. Back to my childhood in the 80s, endless summers in Chalkidiki, Greece, evening walks, some fig trees now and then. Oh

What an incredible weak fragrance. In 30 minutes it's gone. A total waste of money!

Fresh, light, nice but short lived. Unisex. Layers amazingly over Cacao Libertine to smell like Solidarność plums (and lasts 10x longer).
