With all the fruity, tropical notes like pineapple, fig and coconut milk, I expected Star to be something like a summer night gourmand. But to my nose, this is mainly vanilla, hazelnut-filled praline and an unlisted smokey note. A gourmand above all. I see it as an unambiguous fall/winter fragrance, suitable for daytime and night.

When I look at the notes list and know I'm supposed to smell pineapple, I can pick it up, but I never would have thought of it on my own. Contrary to how fragrances usually work, I get more fruit in the drydown than in the opening, but overall this just isn't a very fruity scent.
The iris is a nice, subtle addition to the sweeter notes, its powdery coolness makes the scent smoother and more sophisticated.

I sense a very slight similarity to Replica By the Fireplace in the base, but Star is more feminine, creamier and not as straightforward. So, it's not a dupe at all, just a passing resemblance. It must be the crunchy, smokey, nutty sweetness in both!
A lot of people on here compared this to Zara Supreme Vanilla and I want to add that I don't see that at all. I can't stand Surpreme Vanilla and I like Star a lot.

Star is a new perfume from Mauboussin, a brand that is not very familiar to me. I tested the new product out of curiosity. Although pineapple is usually not my thing, it is thankfully missing here.

Star surprised me, as it is a pleasant, soft amber scent. The powdery iris and sweet vanilla blossom give it a lovely touch. The fig is hardly noticeable, the coconut note subtle and pleasant.

In the dry down, a woody and slightly smoky note emerges. Compared to other fragrances, the vanilla here is more understated and pleasant. Overall, Star is feminine, flattering, and inviting - sweet, but not overwhelming.

A star in the autumn sky 2023 for lovers of amber and vanilla. It's worth a try.

Sweet Seduction

I don't even remember how I came across Star, but as soon as I read the notes, I wanted to test the fragrance. The virtual paper listed many ingredients that I really, really like. The reviews and statements here did the rest. Soon, a sample of the fragrance fluttered my way. I tested 4 fragrances at the same time, but Star stood out like a true star. My husband was nearly enthusiastic ("smells good!") and so he joined in.

It starts fruity, with the fig coming through for me instead of the pineapple. I don't always like pineapple, so I'm very glad that I can't really identify it on its own. Shortly after, the fragrance becomes creamier, like a fruity body lotion and less like a fig smoothie. And then the real star (pun intended) of the fragrance takes the stage: the praline. A sweet, delicious seduction, but one of the expensive kind. Not a cheap, tacky treat, but a delicate temptation straight from the top floor of KaDeWe. The sweetness doesn't come off as cheap, synthetic, or sticky, but rather really pleasant, balanced, and harmonious. I think this is due to the support from the heliotrope, which always gives me those refined yet sweet vibes. The vanilla also comes across rather subtly and in a wonderfully supportive way enhances the sweetness of the praline. I can also detect a slight woodiness. This gives the fragrance a twist and makes it exciting. Once it settles, it caresses the skin wonderfully soft, sweet, and gentle.

I find the longevity and sillage incredibly good. Especially for the price. You can confidently order it from the big A and not from online shops that offer it for 60 euros more.
The bottle is a bit tricky. It is really beautiful, the shape is innovative yet not kitschy. I also like the cap with its gold and shape. What I don't like is how the cap sits on the bottle. It takes some force to remove it, and in the process, I regularly scrape off a bit more of the gold layer. But it doesn't matter; as I said, for the price, I can forgive that.

The fragrance is even relatively independent of the seasons for me. In summer, I probably wouldn't wear it, but otherwise, it fits everywhere for me.

Star is truly a hit and an absolute heartfelt recommendation for anyone looking for affordable yet good fragrances.

Completely underrated

By chance, a small sample of the fragrance was included in the mail from a dear friend. Initially overlooked, until the day came when I tested it and fell in love.

The scent starts off creamy, milky for me. I don't smell any pineapple or fig. Instead, there's coconut milk, amber, tonka, and vanilla.
This is truly a beautiful fragrance for a modest price.

Longevity and sillage are great. Not overpowering but clearly and pleasantly noticeable.
It receives compliments for the fragrance, every single time.

No Iris - No Fun?

As a confessed iris lover, I had been wanting to test this fragrance for some time, even though I must admit that the pineapple in the fragrance pyramid made me hesitate a bit: I generally don't like it in scents.
But here I actually don't perceive it - the hoped-for iris, however, is also not present:
I get a sweet scent where I can sniff out vanilla, a hint of coconut with a woody "base," and beautiful powdery notes, although I can't attribute the powdery notes to any specific flower.
Even though the hoped-for iris is somewhat hiding from my nose, I am not disappointed. The overall impression does remind me a bit of "Supreme Vanilla | Zara," but Star is, for me, the smoother, gentler, and prettier sister.
