An Italian requiem
Strange prototypical random effort that summed up in a premium composition and cannot be repeated... this is my first impression everyone Notturno comes up with that strange sparkling ink and wet paper smell of rum. This accord has a special way of decay. It's kind of fungal and it's this fungal aspect that makes it charming like a special pasta sauce.

However, so pity that the baffling show ends in just few minutes and metallic rum smell turns to fresh decent chemical vetiver that reminds me library full of new books. It's still occupying me but I love the opening. Notturno inclines to minimalism with bold resemblance to Japanese architecture.
Strong skin-mate longevity, mediocre sillage.

softly padding toe beans
Notturno, by Meo Fusciuni, is a fragrance that is meant to evoke the poetry and the imaginary rooms of night. It is soft, so soft, which is interesting for a leather-forward fragrance because, unlike most, there’s nothing acrid or smoky or tannic about it. This is leather worn close to the skin and worn down over years, padding up and down hardwood stairs in the hours of darkness, tufted with fur and spiked with little claws. Springing silently into bed with you at midnight, kneading a small spot in the midst of faded flannel quilts, and snoozing in the crook of your knees. You know these are dreams and ghosts and wisps of memory; your dear inky-furred friend died twelve years ago on a June afternoon and is buried under a lightning-struck oak in New Jersey. A phone on the creaky cedar nightstand illuminates the hour; she often visits at this time. These are warm, blanket-soft moments, a sweet slip in time or space, or sleep when everything is safe and good and exactly as it should be.

Shortlived rum esters over longlived amberwoods
Notturno is bad, but doesn’t even have the grace to be memorably bad. It is just bad in a ‘thin, doesn’t smell great, and definitely doesn’t belong in the catalogue of an artisan perfumer’ kind of way. Unlike my other Meo Fusciuni samples, which I use to the last drop either to make sure I fully understand them or because I enjoy smelling them, Notturno is the only one that lolls around on my dresser, half full, until I inevitably spot it, wonder if I’ll like that, spray some on and instantly remember that not only do I not like it at all, but I clearly can’t remember a single thing about it, hence the cycle.

Here’s why it’s bad – not why I think it’s bad but why it’s objectively bad – it is really nothing more than a single rum ester stuck on top of a burnt sugar, Maltol-sticky wood aromachemical that smells like a section excised from By the Fireplace and spread out in a thin schmear on your skin. I hate this note, primarily because it is a grandstanding gesture rather than an idea, but also because rum itself is cringe beyond the age of 19. For all of the 30 seconds it lasts, 5 seconds of it smells impressively like real rum (though we’ve established that that’s not the plus anyone thinks it is) and 25 seconds like the little bottles of rum flavoring you buy to put in cakes.

And that’s it, that’s the best part of this scent, done and dusted in under half a minute. What follows this damp squib of an opening is the chemical litany of whatever molecules people are stringing together these days to suggest leather, wood, or tobacco to an increasingly gullible (or nose blind) audience. Notturno means nocturnal, and from the reviews, it seems that most people are buying into a fantasy of whatever nocturnal means to them rather than smelling the scent for what it truly is. For once, the perfume isn’t the one with projection issues.

Meo Fusciuni / Notturno
From the 2 Imprezzabile fragrances that I like very much (Notturno and Narcotico), it was the first one that made me bring it from Milan, where its price (discounted) was lower than in our country on the Vistula River. I also did not find great similarities among the perfumes I know. This perfume is a combination of ink (who smelled knows how it smells) combined with rum. I can also smell musk, some herbs and incense. A very unusual smell. The disadvantage, unfortunately, is its durability. It stays on my body for about 5 hours.
It is definitely worth getting to know, because it is a unique work.

A Dylan Dog perfume.
Do you know the Italian comic about the nightmare investigator? Noir, tormented, a night without an end. Incredibily sexy both on males and females, in my opinion the masterpiece of Fusciuni.
It makes me feel like someone trying to wrap their head around a case, ink splattered everywhere, not getting enough sleep. Amazing.

Peculiar first 5 minutes. As the rum fizzles, goes into generic musk + ambroxan. Some designers do better. Crepuscular performance.

Strong sweet rum and overripe pineapple followed by charred wood, smoke and ink. Very unusual.

I get a kind of weird sour fruit, like Star fruit, waxy skin. Kind of rubbery leather fruit. Not for me

Wild perfume, it reminds me of chestnut pure overall with a boozy rum note and too-sweet fermenting pineapple

the pineapple and the ink give me an sour cherry vibe, the rum makes everything more liquorish. Leather on the base.

Experience a nocturnal adventure with Notturno. Its rich blend of rum, leather and woods creates a dark, alluring ambiance.

I was going to layer this with a dark rose (Born from Fire). However I find I don't like pineapple aromas. At arms length, still compelling.

Sharp leather scent, dark rum, ripe pineapple. Warm, strange, and yet alluring together. Breaking down to wood and smoke.
