Vibrant, floral, dark amber, sensible yet interesting
Poisonous Amber is a Dua original blend released in 2023 that is now on vaulted list, a sample that I neglected for a bit before being quite taken with it when finally smelling it and then nabbing a couple bottles in the several-times-a-year vault sale. It’s fittingly an amber-centric fragrance, a bit boldly fruity/floral/semi-sweet while also deeply resinous and bassy. Amber mixes with ambergris, oakmoss, rose, lavender, citruses, woods, and musks. It’s not the gourmand-leaning cinnamon-ish amber that many such fragrances lean toward when stronger, nor is it animalic or oud-laden. Arguably, it has a bit of a feminine vibe with the presence of lavender and rose with amber, but I think it’s quite pleasantly unisex and rich, somewhat daring but also reminiscent of bolder scents of yore while still having a certain modern brightness and liveliness to it.
It’s now priced at $36 for 30ml as part of the vault, which is on sale 2-3 times per year, by my estimation, and of course for a nicely-composed, high-performing fragrance, this is a great deal, especially given that vaulted fragrances, like Dua Designer Line fragrances, are subject to additional discounts, usually when buying five bottles or more per order.
