Never fails
Update august 14th 2023:
OMG...every time I spray her on my skin, like I did just now, I am shocked about how she outperforms many - maybe even most - of my other, more expensive, fragrances! In scent as well as in performance.
I actually can't stand it that my cheapest fragrance is one of my all time favourites :-)!

It is a real 'feel good' perfume. I wish I could describe her better because 'soapy' 'powdery' and 'floral' are all true, but the way the notes are balanced...there is nothing like it, really!
'She is like the sum of all my favourite scents' would be the best way to do her justice.
Feels good to spray on, feels good to catch her whiffs and feels good to wake up to, which absolutely happens because of the great longevity.
I forgot to mention it, but the showercream is also lovely, smells just like the EDP; I also have the deo, which I like less, that one is a bit too citrussy for my likes and matches the EDC better I presume...

But oh....this EDP....so, so lovely!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The bottle, the name 'Tosca' and packaging were never appealing to me. But one day, I just tried it in a shop and....wow! It was love at first sniff! Really did not expect that!
This is so soapy, fresh and at the same time alluring! This is being compared to Chanel No 5, but I didn't like Chanel No 5 (untill their latest release which is more mellow and better than the former one imo) and a lot of aldehyde florals are being compared to Chanel No5 without me being able to relate to that.
I smell a little bit of a 'Blue Grass vibe' in Tosca, but with Blue Grass (which I also love!) I am always a bit reluctant to wear that in public because it seems to be an 'either you love it or you hate it ' kind of scent and I don't want to wear something offending (though I never had any complaints wearing it and my boyfriend likes it:-), so just a feeling). Tosca has that same airy, soapy freshness, but whithout that significant spicy, clove dry down that is in Blue Grass and that, sometimes, can be quite prominent. This won't offend anyone which doesn't mean it won't be noticed: I recieved many compliments on it.
Tosca never fails me, it's also perfect if you can't decide on what to wear. Because this one really never fails: In spring and summer, it will provide you with freshness and in fall and winter it will provide you with a cosy feel!
Unbelievable that this is so cheap and underrated!

Aunt Tosca is still posh!
Aunt Tosca is still posh!

Aunt Tosca is born in 1924, still fit in the head, but otherwise (due to age) a bit frail.
Aunt Tosca sleeps in linen bedding, which is still starched and taken to the hot mangle. White she must be, snow white! Colorful microfiber stuff does not enter her bedroom. She is afraid of bedding with animals on it.
Aunt Tosca has a private nurse who helps her with her personal hygiene, washing her at seven in the morning with a tart soap that smells citrusy and very clean. The nurse has to wash each finger separately.

Aunt Tosca wears only blouses with white collars and cotton underclothes, which also have to be starched and ironed.

Aunt Tosca never married and still lets herself be called Fraulein, although she was not at all Fraulein-like in her youth. After all, she used to be pretty and she did it with the Allies on the threshing floor after the war.

Aunt Tosca keeps a floor cosmetician, also economic help, who brings her once a week a bouquet of roses and carnations mixed. They must be only fragrant flowers, not sterile roses, which look beautiful but do not smell.

There is a jasmine bush blooming outside her window.

For her 90th birthday, she got a huge bouquet of flowers. Spring flowers, daffodils and daffodils. She dried it and it still stands on the Jugenstilanrichte, which she inherited from her mother.

Coffee is always served at 3:00 p.m. sharp. Every day there are vanilla buns. Even when there is an earthquake, they do not deviate from their routine
Once a week the antique furniture is polished with oil. There she knows nothing!

I have to close now, because exactly at 18.00 clock will eat dinner!

La vita e un opera
I know neither the opera of the same name, nor its content. The enchanting perfume all the better. Rather, it prompts me to give today times my thoughts on this rather inconspicuous and little noticed fragrance to the best.
I am currently in the process of extremely reduce my collection, what is not worn regularly, goes.
Tosca I had not put on for a long time, I dug it out.
It's an unexciting and simple bottle in the old version, which I've had for what feels like ages.
As is my way of describing fragrances without breaking them down...
My workday becomes a stage, the curtain rises, I play the lead,
the lighting is perfect, the dress fits like a glove, make-up and hairstyle
It's the best, it's the best.
The orchestra kicks in, a symphony of the finest flowers, aromas and elegance.
Nothing disturbs, nothing is too much or too little, powder and pollen, vanilla and violet, a little forest , a charming veil. Not screaming or intrusive.

I forgot I was wearing work pants and safety shoes, my hair hastily pinned together, and it's 6 a.m.

On any given day with Tosca, my life is an opera.
A dream.

The strange ondulation of Mrs. Gisela
Book scorpions are not actually real scorpions, but their appearance gives them this cuddly name.
They actually live in old books and feed on annoying dust mites, thus helping old writings to survive.

This year, Fibelskorpi jumps on my shoulder and we read together from a dusty book of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Pragmatically and exquisitely sparse, my little comrade-in-arms always adds an adjective or adverb to the text, just like a fairytale humanization.
Simply adorable!

FS: Blushing.

Now let's open the cover.
It reads as follows.

Dear reader, in order to understand the following lines, please apply the EdP concentration of Tosca.

FS: Strange.

A: Well, dear Fibelskorpi, something fragrant can't hurt.

Hiss!
FS: Air-polluting.

A: This is due to the ancient aldehydes, which continue to paint the beautiful citrus fruits full of light in a golden abstract way.
Orange in particular gently caresses the skin.

FS: Subcutaneously slagged.

A: I would like to have overheard that! Really!
Better watch out, the white lily of the valley beckons freshly flowery with brother jasmine to the flower bed.
Very subtle everything and kept in orange tones, these yellow bloomers.
Ylang and narcissus are visibly warming and surround a pleasant rose.

FS: Pining.

A: In order not to hurt yourself on the thorns of the rose, the base offers a leather glove dusted with vanilla powder, labdanum and patchouli from the crocodile bag.

FS: Ladylike.

A: Yes, that's great-grandma Tosca, a golden bouquet of flowers with a vanilla leather cover.
The ambergris crackles like a shellac record, enchantingly sweet in the nose, the gentle waves off Travemünde are peacefully soapy.

FS: schmaltzy.

A: Never mind, let's continue reading the text.
Quiet now!

It was not so long ago that Mrs. Gisela, unhappy with her hair, sought the advice of a well-heeled hairdresser.
While she had been able to successfully keep her crow's feet in check with Hormocenta, her unruly hair had recently rebelled against hair setting products.
The specialist offered her a promising solution: ondulating.
She became nervous, even anxious about the procedure, but Figaro knew what to do and calmed her nerves with a glass of women's gold.

FS: Irresponsible.

The pungent smell of the chemicals on her scalp still made her angry and she refused to use the dryer cap.
Laughing, the nimble man told her the secret to a good mood. In a dance hall reserved for gentlemen only, they sniffed at brown vials, their cheeks turned red and they yodeled the pure joy of life with fervor.

FS: Grotesque.

Mrs. Gisela then rummaged in her crocodile bag and pulled out the delicately chiselled Tosca vial.

She plucked up her courage, opened the cap, held the atomizer to her nostrils and squeezed.

FS: Baffled.

And so began the rapturous disappearance of Mrs. Gisela under the warm drying hood.
The golden aldehydes shimmered seductively and conjured her like Thumbelina into an oversized box full of Rocher balls, her insatiable land of milk and honey.
Ripe lemons and juicy oranges then whisked her away to the postcard from Capri, she became part of the photograph framed with playful mermaids and a Venus by Boticelli. The sea was as azure blue as the well-maintained coach full of waving cultural travelers.

FS: Technically colored.

Fresh white blossoms let them fly light as a feather over the snow-covered Alps, catching sight of the lakes of Schwangau that evoke their homeland.
As delicate as a dandelion, Ms. Gisela landed in the courtyard of Neuschwanstein Castle.
A fair, elderly maiden in a dirndl hurried out of a winding turret, a basket full of daffodils and exotic yellow flowers and roses in her arms.
With a rolling R sound, she welcomed Mrs. Gisela with a grin.
Both ladies embraced each other with emotion.
Ms. Gisela was close to tears, she thanked Dirndlfigurine Uschi Glas from the bottom of her heart for everything, really everything.
Full of trust and confidence, she would only be too happy to entrust her with the election of the Federal President in the Federal Assembly on her behalf, as she would not be in a position to decide on such complicated issues. Ideally, Ms. Glas should also advise her on her postal vote.
She, who embodied tenderness again, had such a beautiful and happy family.
They kissed each other on the cheeks like old bosom friends.

FS: Humbly.

Mrs. Glas took her by the hand and led her into the Singers' Hall.
There, leaning against one of the neo-Romanesque pillars with his shirt half open, was the man who understood women's desires like no other.
His voice hit every note, made promises come true.
What Mrs. Gisela would give him, he never dared to dream.
She would have kindled an extinguished fire in him.
To love her, to touch her.
Her heart raced, her whole body trembled.
And so it paid off to have practiced her applause routine that day in the Mainz TV garden. Now she could clap to the beat of her Roland Kaiser in a refreshing way.

FS: compliant.

From a parallel universe, Figaro called again in the distance to inquire about Mrs. Gisela's well-being.
Another dose of Tosca would be necessary.

FS: Alarming.

Suddenly, snow-white powder fell over Neuschwanstein Castle.
In a vanilla snow flurry, cheeky cloud fingers carried Mrs. Gisela away above the clouds, only to let her plop down halfway down the Glotter Valley in the Black Forest.
She lay dazed in the meadow as paramedics placed her on a stretcher and took her to the head physician at the nearby clinic.
Prof. Dr. Sascha Brinkmann reassured her that she had only suffered minor scratches from the fall, nothing worth mentioning.
One healthy goose later, she thanked the expert, saying that women would trust him.

FS: Tolerance irritating.

Nothing would stand in the way of her honeymoon with Roland, she would probably be up, according to his diagnosis.
Sister Gabi would take the young couple to the airport.

FS: Feverishly dreaming.

And such a caring angel from Gabi always changes her white uniform like a fairy tale, so that she can now welcome the happy couple on board as chief stewardess on behalf of Captain Mahmud and wish them a pleasant flight to Mogadishu.
However, you should put the vanilla leather-covered seat backs upright and stop smoking.

FS: Fateful.

Mrs. Gisela became suspicious, however, as she would have given up smoking long ago.
Where was the smoke coming from? At the last minute, her soufflé was taken out of the drying hood, crispy and crackling.
The customer and hairdresser saw the hairy masterpiece and laughed their troubles away.

FS: Mind-expanding.

And from then on, Mrs. Gisela demanded the benefits of the hood and Tosca with Prussian regularity and punctuality.

A long dry spell
Switzerland suffers from a persistent "Tosca drought", as it is not available in local shops (why??). Fortunately, I am able to take a little stroll to Germany on foot every now and then to replenish my running out "Tosca stock". But with the borders closed during the Covid pandemic I literally sat on dry land! A dry spell began...

My always well-organized and pragmatic grandmother (who immigrated to Switzerland as a young woman from Germany) did not know such problems, her "Tosca stock" was always well stocked, even the powder in a mysterious turquoise tin was not missing. How so? If you lived in the Swiss Alpine region, it must have been difficult to get hold of Tosca? And shopping tourism or online shops did not even exist at that time! The solution to the mystery: just keep inviting your relatives from Germany and have them bring you the scent! Very clever.

That is why I was able to enjoy this flowery-powdery vanilla yet refreshing fragrance throughout my childhood. Tosca can easily compete with high-priced fragrances, for me even more beautiful than Chanel No. 5! While I have an on-off relationship with "Echt Kölnisch Wasser", my love for Tosca is pure and unclouded :-)

And then it lasts forever! It's just a fragrance for eternity.

Where it concerns the comparisons to Chanel 5, I think Tosca is more 'Guerlainesque' than it is 'Chanel-ish'...
