Hey guys, good evening, I hope you are doing well. Christmas is coming soon, so I can imagine that you might be feeling a bit of that Christmas stress, maybe… but I still find Christmas beautiful and have already been to the Christmas market several times… yes, among other things to stuff my face… but I digress :D
Today, I’m going to talk about a fragrance from the brand Odin New York. I really like the brand name here, yes… because of Odin in the name. After all, Odin is the father of Thor. And before you run off, let me assure you that I’m not thinking of Thor as a comic book character (even though I have to admit that I think Thor is really cool! :D), but rather about all the mythological stuff that I find so fascinating! However, this has absolutely nothing to do with the fragrance here…
Anyway, today I’m introducing you to the fragrance Petrana from this brand. Petrana sounds like a woman’s name, and indeed it is a Greek woman’s name. However, Petrana here refers to the Iris petrana, which is a type of iris that grows in Jordan and represents the heart of this fragrance. That sounds like a beautiful, powdery scent… :) And interestingly, Iris, as you know, is also a woman’s name! A woman who would be named Petrana Iris (or Iris Petrana) would therefore be doubly named after Iris or something like that :D
The Fragrance:
The fragrance begins with a wonderful scent cloud, where you can immediately smell the beautiful iris scent. Then pepper comes in, adding a slight, tingling spiciness, along with coriander, which comes across as somewhat herbal and bitter (and where I always hope it doesn’t become too strong… :D). The sweetness that I occasionally perceive comes from the currants, which blend a bit too much with the iris, but that’s okay because it smells great. What also mixes with the iris and is actually hardly distinguishable from it are the violets. In fact, for me, iris and violets sometimes smell quite similar, as both give off a slightly sweet and powdery scent that is very lovely.
Over time, the sweetness of the fragrance increases a bit, which could be partly due to the musk. Coriander continues to provide an herbal background and remains as it is, so it doesn’t get stronger and doesn’t bother at all, as it unusually doesn’t smell like it’s running away.
Much later, it actually still smells as it did before. So sweet and above all soft and powdery. As I said, the main sweetness then comes from the musk. The coriander naturally continues to fade, and I somehow couldn’t smell the vetiver at all. A beautiful fragrance!
The Sillage and Longevity:
Hmm, although the initial scent cloud seems overwhelming for a few seconds, the sillage is unfortunately rather moderate for most of the fragrance’s duration, so it will probably be best smelled up close.
The longevity is also mediocre, lasting about six or seven hours before it becomes hardly noticeable.
The Bottle:
The bottle is, as is typical for most niche fragrances, rather minimalist, as it simply represents a rectangle with brownish fragrance liquid, even though the glass looks quite high-quality. There is no label; the name of the fragrance is printed directly on the bottle, in the lower right corner, and if I’m not mistaken, the print is even slightly tactile (or?). The cap is dark gray/black and cylindrical, it looks solid and gives the otherwise somewhat simple bottle a nicer look. Everything is quite alright.
Yes, I think Petrana is a lovely fragrance. It smells of slightly spicy scents, but above all of beautiful powdery and soft notes, mainly iris and violets. And then later also of musk. Even though the fragrance leans a bit more towards a women’s scent, I still find it somewhat unisex, so it could also be worn by men from time to time… maybe as a cuddly scent or something? :D
In any case, the fragrance is well-suited for warm days; in winter, you could wear it at home for yourself (or as I said, for cuddling, kissing, snuggling… oh, I think you get the system! :D) since it would vanish so quickly outside that you would have to reapply every 10 steps to still have some of the scent left…
In any case, it’s a fragrance worth trying. The price is slightly elevated, but still not excessively high like with some other fragrances; of course, you can definitely find a fragrance like this for much cheaper. Nevertheless, it’s a lovely scent, has no noticeable synthetics, and is therefore worth a test!
That’s it from me for today, see you soon, and have a lovely evening everyone :)
