Olivier Durbano / Rock Crystal (Cristal de Roche)
A great and classy fragrance. A complete perfume, rich in quality (ingredients) and beautiful in reception - for incense and wood noses.
For me, he is the brother of Black Tourmaline, maybe less radical in projection and reception from BT and more friendly to the environment ;-)
Large amounts of roasted resins - labdanum, olibanum, myrrh, seasoned with pepper and herbs and watered with the essence of sandalwood. A wonderful work. I love it and so do BT.
Projection at the length of the arm and a lifetime of approx. 7 hours.
I highly recommend it to fans of similar notes.

The Rock Crystal Reinterpreted
The immediate statement from my olfactorily unblessed husband: Smells like an ice infusion in the sauna. Well, I’m not so gifted either, often perceiving the ingredient list a bit skewed and experiencing things quite differently than the masses. The masses here, the Parfumos, all those trained olfactory bulbs. My husband approaches it completely unpretentiously. Sprayed on and immediate reaction. Wonderful! And I must say, he’s somehow right. The Durbano brand was completely unknown to me, and I ordered it blindly after discovering it at Parfumaria. I like to do that, no risk no fun. Rarely am I not disappointed, new things don’t reveal themselves to me immediately, and I gladly crawl under the mantle of the familiar. But here: An immediate "Thank God" (not unbearable), then a hesitant "Wow," and after 2 days now an expanding enthusiasm.
Anyone looking for a rock crystal scent that somehow smells of ice, clarity, and freshness will be ruthlessly disappointed here. Rather, the rock crystal is the metronome of this fragrance. The bottle contains two such specimens, and it should be shaken well before spraying. The concept is familiar to me, but here it comes as somewhat unexpectedly surprising. But it works. On my skin, there is a scent that just brims with naturalness and nature. It is earthy, mountainous, dirty, rough, and yet refined. The hands dig through damp mud and soon crawl over withered steppes, grasses, and firmly grasp scorched bushes. A light smoke hovers over the pure nature, this idyll, this moment of pause. The ice infusion slowly melts over the smoldering fire in the first 30 minutes, the wood crackles, the heat rises. I sit right in the middle and enjoy this soothing calm.
I find the interpretation of the theme excellently executed. A fragrance full of naturalness and strength has emerged, with pleasant sillage and a wonderful longevity of about 8 hours. How lovely that there are still such jewels to discover. How lovely that this fragrance exists.

Rock Crystal is Different
The fragrances by Olivier Durbano are extraordinary. They are all named after (semi)precious stones and inspired by them. What they have in common is indeed a somewhat bitter, slightly mineral undertone that likely reveals the perfumer's signature. Furthermore, it is quite difficult to describe them.

Rock Crystal, the Bergkristall, is somewhat piercing, slightly sweet (orange blossom), spicy with a woody base. I also think I can recognize some fruity notes in between. A look at the pyramid clarifies the existing complexity. The scent, however, feels seamless. There isn't much development. The fragrance is quite bitter, but at the same time has something warming, very pleasant, and engaging. I find it easy to wear. I don't see the connection to rock crystal - I would have expected a sparkling coolness here instead.

It's too overwhelming for me: cumin-sweat note meets strong pepper, sharp incense, dense spices, and wood - one-dimensional.

A delicate, bright incense with a Mediterranean flair. It gradually becomes woodier with a touch of moss. Super beautiful!

A rather strong woody-resinous scent with a hint of smoke. Reminds me a bit of Hinoki by CdG Monocle, but a bit rougher. Not bad.

Spicy, pleasantly sweet church incense. Reminds me of "Olibanum". Good, but I've smelled it before.

dry wood - spicy resins - green herbaceousness
Lots of ISO but warm-herbaceous with a beautiful incense heart.

Dark, rich, soft, enveloping, special. Also lasts incredibly well. Great discovery of the brand!

If the frankincense in Olibanum is too strong for you, this is absolutely right.
Similar "unripe"-nutty, dry, and very linear. Nice.
