Alizée? Hmm wait, isn't that.. ahh yes.. "Moi Lolita".. Wow unexpected flashback! Oh well, of course there is no relation between this perfume and the French singer Alizée. Judging on the scent alone, this perfume was around long before she was born.

This perfume is a floral bouquet that comes with a few treats. There is a violet powder kick in the opening, that gives a powdery feeling. But that is not all. I get a musk in the background that I find particularly nice. It pulls the scent out of that powdered soap corner and gives it a more attractive, lively "lolita" character.

Alizée put a smile on my face despite the vintage vibe. And not just because of the name. A nice spring scent. Classic but wearable.

The first real spring day...
... it’s 20 degrees, the birds are chirping in the trees, the sun is shining, and what does a woman need? A beautiful fragrance! All the annoyance, all the little things are forgotten. Alizée is spring on the skin. Alongside buoyant citrus notes, violets greet me, which are still not visible in our garden. It was probably too cold for too long. In April, white, light blue, and purple violets will bloom. I never pick them; they are so fragile and delicate. To smell them, you have to lie down on the ground. (Good exercise for the old bones, ouch!). They have a lightly sweet scent, with the darker ones blooming a bit more robustly.
When the delicate violet has faded or crumbled, a bouquet of the most beautiful spring flowers awaits her. It is sweet enough not to be kitschy, but definitely not synthetic. A wonderful bouquet.
Despite the vanilla (which I am sometimes skeptical about and can gladly do without in fragrances), there is no vanilla sugar aroma, as the base is finely balanced and leaves a creamy woodiness.
Hmm, I don’t find Alizée that skinny at all; it makes a clear statement. I’m going to sit in the lilac bush and trill...

Alizée or Beige?
In our beloved swap game, I received a sample of Alizée from a dear perfumer...

After my lovingly packed package arrived, I immediately retreated to indulge my passion - discovering new fragrances!

I was not familiar with Alizée until now, but it strongly reminds me of... of... of Beige by Chanel from the Les Exclusifs de Chanel line..! I quickly opened Parfumo to compare the notes - and lo and behold! - not a single shared note throughout - not one!

After testing and trying it multiple times in various weather conditions - no, it definitely smells (on my skin) like Beige!

The scent starts off strongly floral, and over time hardly becomes softer... it is and remains a very long-lasting bright floral bomb, which gradually acquires a slight powderiness..

Just like with Beige, I distinctly smell -banana- in Alizée, which does not fade away at all.

I do not pick out bergamot, lemon, benzoin, orange blossom, and patchouli (?!?) at all.

Summary: "The scent is very floral, powdery - in my opinion suitable for daily wear, more in spring than in summer, as it could otherwise develop a 'muggy' quality in very warm temperatures. Otherwise, it smells the same from the first spray to hours later - meaning, if you like it with the first pfffff, you will like it all day long!

Conclusion: Bright floral banana bomb!

Samsara Alike
Yes, it's already mentioned here as a fragrance twin. But it really is true. It smells exactly like Samsara (I'm referring to the current EdP). Samsara is, like this fragrance, a sandalwood-based perfume, with a very soapy, very strict jasmine note. I perceive the result as madam-like, conservative, and it also strikes me as very loud, shrill, screechy, and unappealing. It must be this strict soapy quality that keeps me at a distance from the fragrance - or rather, from the two fragrances, Samsara and Alizée. Despite the wonderful sweet-aromatic sandalwood. Ugh, sandalwood scents that have exactly this balsamic, almost creamy and sweet sandalwood accord have all been too stale, too loud, too furniture-like-woody, too something for me. Bois des Iles by Chanel could have been my sandalwood fragrance, but ultimately it was too aldehydic for me. I had a certain, albeit restrained hope for this one, but unfortunately, it was nothing. What a pity.

Very skin-like scent!
I like the scent, but for me, it's not a 100% knockout. It roughly goes in the direction of Burberry Brit and Evody Note de Luxe. However, the citrus notes, which definitely do not come across as dominant, make it fresher.
However, I miss a bit of presence with this scent; I really have to get my nose close to the skin to perceive it in all its facets.
Definitely a powdery little fragrance.

A chypre women's fragrance with opulent floral powder and sweet-creamy vanilla. If you like classically elegant scents, you should give this a try.

Hints of Guerlain's Samsara, but lighter and with more floral variations. Daffodil stands out a bit. Very French, a beautiful fragrance.
