Rose D'artiste means the 'Art of Pink', journey through the world of pink hues.
Piece 883/1300

Rose D'artiste unfolds with fresh and zingy bergamot. This isn't a juicy or explosive bergamot; it delicately introduces a sense of freshness, setting the stage for the upcoming accord. Even in its initial stages, the subtle powdery and incensy whispers of frankincense and myrrh begin to weave through, creating an ambiant vibe. The blending technique seems to infuse a refreshing quality without compromising the fragrance's depth; instead, it strikes a perfect balance, both substantial and gracefully nuanced.
After around 1-3 minutes, the main character of violet and iris emerge. This imparts a slightly powdery, dusty, but still retaining the softness with a hint of sweetness. The iris, likely sourced from the flower rather than the root, imparts a dry, resolute yet velvety touch. The interplay between iris and violet takes on the route of a powdery cosmetic scent, subtly sweetened against a backdrop of incense, becoming the defining idea of the fragrance.
Underneath, we have the lingering tones of frankincense, myrrh, and ambroxan. Throughout the olfactory journey, a rich tones of floral, powdery, ambery, and incense notes unfolds. The amber/incense fusion doesn't lean heavily into smoky or intense ash aspects; instead, it focus on the ambery and opulent facets of the resin. The collaboration between myrrh and iris prevents an overwhelming sweetness, preserving the enigmatic Middle Eastern signature characteristic of the Armani Prive line.
This fragrance stays quite close to the skin, projecting just enough to reach the length of an arm. It's not an overwhelming presence but rather an airy, gentle embrace that lingers gracefully on the skin. I recall applying it around 7-8 pm on one occasion, and the following morning, a subtle trace of Rose D'artiste still lingered. Much like a lingering ghost of fragrance, it leaves a faint, a whisper.

Imagine in a classy museum space, silent and undisturbed, with a single masterpiece illuminated in the center of the room. In front of you, a rose sculpted from with marble, adorned with silk fabrics in shades of purple, gray, and pastel, all veiled in a mystical haze of smoke and incense. The contrast between materials, colors, and forms creates a unique and contemporary experience.
Experiencing Rose D'artiste feels like a fleeting moment crafted by Marie Salamagne, more about capturing a specific atmosphere, moment or space rather than adhering to a classic fragrance structure. Rose D'artiste is both simple and profound, an artful and mysterious creation that encapsulates a singular moment, a distinct emotion, a particular scenario.

Thanksgiving, or "A Bed in the Cornfield"
My first impression, the rating may still change slightly, but we are curious, right?

So, fresh upon spraying, I can clearly smell incense and dry iris,
but not overly dusty.

Then a slightly sweet note joins in, which Smellie already mentioned.
This sweetness reminds me of freshly harvested grain,
so it's quite fitting for summer, late summer, and autumn.

Hence the title. I couldn't decide whether to go with "A Bed in the Cornfield" or, due to the incense note, to prefer Thanksgiving in the church.

I perceive this "grain note" more closely, while in the projection I smell more of the incense.
This one is not as soft as in New York,
but unfortunately for me, it has a slightly silvery note. Not so much that it overpowers the entire fragrance, but it does remain present until the end.

I really enjoy this grain note on my arms,
as if one had taken a nap in that field :-)

I do like fragrances with gentle projection, but it could be a bit more. What mainly bothers me, however, is that the incense takes on this metallic note for me again.
If it weren't for that, the fragrance would receive fewer points from me in sillage and longevity, but more for the scent note.

Conclusion: I like it, but it doesn't come close to New York or Bleu Turquoise.
I would classify it as unisex, especially because of the incense.

Aaaannnddd, the bottle is an absolute dream :-)

First Impressions
Actually, I only want to comment on a fragrance after I have tested it thoroughly. However, since there are no samples available for these limited editions and I won’t be delving further into it, I can only report on a single test.
I was very curious about the fragrance and today I properly doused myself with it at Douglas in the city.
The first impression was quite nice; it starts with a dry iris note, similar to “Iris Nazarena.” However, the fragrance quickly pulls back. Ambroxan takes the stage, followed by a light note of incense and a hint of delicate sweet-fruity elements. That’s it, no further progression and no development. The arrival of the synthetic note reminds me a bit of “Armani Privé - New York.” What works out well there feels rather harsh and angular here, almost fragmented. Unfortunately, it also lacks creaminess for me.
Despite several sprays, I can hardly perceive the fragrance; it has no sillage on me. The longevity is present; I can still faintly detect it after about 7 hours, but I have to stick my nose to my skin, zero projection.
Just as the missing rose in the pyramid initially irritated me regarding the name (I now know that the rose refers to the color of the bottle), I consistently miss the imagination regarding the justification of the high price. I am honestly disappointed, but my wallet is happy.

Edit October 2018: after wearing it often and considering it as a whole, I actually quite like it now, hence the higher rating.

Despite the off-putting name, NO rose
but a beautiful IRIS scent
slightly smoky, well-made, somewhat synthetic, long-lasting

Cool-metallic incense with sweet notes
*confusing-strange*
Iris is overwhelmed by violet.
*not rosy*
also no O-flower or anything like that.

Creamy violet-iris combo, the other ingredients are hiding from me. Strong synthetic note, possibly from Ambrox..for the price :-(

A powdery-floral dream. Good longevity, which is quite a problem for me otherwise. If only the price weren't so high, still on my wish list.

Dry, incense-laden lipstick with a powdery iris flavor - nothing new, not for me... Lucky me, saved some money!

A bright iris scent, a nice companion for summer days. However, it's something I've smelled often before, nothing new. Price/performance doesn't match.

Aside from the O-flower, it sounds like a dream scent. Is anyone craving it?

A cool-silvery incense wraps around a violet-iris combo, cozying up on Ambrox. Not new, but fine. The name is misleading.

Beautiful creamy-powdery iris with a cigarette in the corner of the mouth + violet. I would have jumped at it for 400€ less :D

Diffuser scent, dry iris - violet combo with metallic incense. The whole fragrance smells very synthetic on me. Not for me...
