Contradictions
Before I get to the fragrance, I would like to briefly address its packaging: Rosarium comes in a truly beautiful bottle made of satin-finished glass (not white, as it appears here - that impression is misleading) with a clear plastic cap. This looks very elegant, and the closure of the bottle is screwable, making it refillable or usable for other purposes once empty. Such a thing is rare, and I am quite pleased about it.
However, this beautiful, practical bottle is then encased in a transparent, super cheap plastic packaging with printed flowers. I could imagine such a beautiful and well-thought-out bottle in a lovely white or silver-gray box instead. Somehow, the whole thing is unharmonious.
But I want to get to the fragrance: When reading the scent notes, I expected a beautiful, lush but harmonious, well-coordinated rose composition. However, that is not really the case. The freshness of the dog rose (wild rose) is present, as is the quite strong sweetness of the tea rose. The Damask rose, with its dark, opulent, and not at all sweet scent, does not come to the fore. The other two roses are unfamiliar to me, so I cannot assess their scent direction. But I think they play a minor role here, just like the colleague from Damascus.
It is a truly beautiful rose fragrance; I wouldn't claim otherwise. Its sillage is good, and the longevity easily exceeds 12 hours.
However, from a house like Shiseido, I would have expected a more balanced composition, especially since the price of about 70 euros for 50 ml is not exactly in the budget segment.
As a lover of rose fragrances, I have added Rosarium to my collection, but Rosarium does not rank among the top spots; those have already been claimed by other rose fragrances in my collection.
