Dirty Industrial Scent
My, my, what a surprise. The first few minutes after spraying, I got a scent of very mild leather. Was kinda disappointed. But within about 20 to 30 minutes, Type Writer really started to bloom. After about 45 minutes to an hour, it had settled down and the same scent remained for the remainder. The best way to describe Type Writer is to say it's an industrial scent. That is, smells like a factory - not a PC assembly plant but an oily machine shop. I got equal parts of leather, oil, dust and an animalic component. It also had a very musty (with a 't', not musky) aspect.

I started wondering, hmmm, leather and oil - let's compare Type Writer to Guilty Absolute. After a spritz of GA on my wrist, it was quite easy to distinguish between them. GA is a leather fragrance. Type Writer is not. It's an industrial scent. As I stated above, equal parts of the different components, with not one dominating. And definitely not a leather scent.

Longevity was very good while sillage was more on the average side after about an hour. To me, this is a very masculine fragrance. I have to get me a bottle.

Short-term metamorphosis
... it stares at me, black and heavy, for hours, days, weeks already, I don't know, time seems to stand still around it, it radiates something gloomy, I suspect that if I touch it, it will swallow me up, pull me down into a dark void, just as the room lies in shadows, the only bright thing is the white paper on the roller and even that is more yellowed than radiant and gives off the smell of spicy flowers, or it leaks in from the souq, it is confusing, as friendly as if it wanted to mock me in my darkness, it lays itself over me, narcotic and heavy, trying to lure me, to crush me. ..

The scratching of bugs. They crawl right over the eardrum. Like a scraping beat. Sweat on my forehead. Feel the keys. They are warm and leather. Pulsing like a living thing. The fingers merge with the machine. Become one with it. Dark thoughts fill the mind, flow out in a gush of dirty earth. No control. Only the perpetual hammering of the keys.

...I jolt up, it has become dark and the machine is still staring at me, black and heavy, steaming now, it stands before me and the room is filled with the smell of hot metal, like an animal a sheet of paper lies on the leather roller, like a tongue, only now written on, it demands attention, so I pull it out and put it in the folder with the others, with the last of my strength, then it is enough for today, even if the thoughts are still racing and sleep is once again not in sight…

-------------------

Type Writer is one of those fragrances that create images, at least for me. That in itself is almost the highest compliment, but I could even imagine wearing it, on (very) special occasions at least. But first things first...

It starts sweet, with a very lush, slightly narcotic tuberose, though it doesn't remind me of bubblegum here as much as in the same brand's Black Tar. That's due to the aldhydes, which bring quite a spicy note to it. Very dry, woody notes are also apparent. A slight association to paper can definitely be fantasized into it. Dark resin and light smoke make themselves felt, though it is much less smoky than anticipated. It is rather a spicy vapor.
As it progresses it becomes more leathery and resinous, somewhat dirty and also slightly earthy. The animalic notes increase as well, complementing the florals very well. Sometimes even a slightly fresh cedar flashes through. At the same time, Type Writer is always quite gentle. Only after 4-5 hours does it get a bit harsher. There is a feeling of hot metal and oil. This is how it slowly fades out.

For me, a very special fragrance, exciting and demanding, but also rewarding if you get involved and quite wearable, although not too often. I do not think, it is too dark, it is rather a game of light (at least twilight) and shadow. I can understand the comparisons to Black Tar, if only because of the tuberose. However, Type Writer is much softer in comparison and it also lacks the thick tar smoke, which of course I welcome.

Thanks to Gandix for tutoring me in automatic writing!

Parfumerie Particulière / Type Writer
What is it smoking and what is that name?

PART 1
When it comes to the first question, TYPE WRITER, when it comes to the second question - I honestly don't know, but maybe someone who knows this scent, or if he knows will share his / her observations - would be very nice. Maybe it's the association of the combined smell of metal, printing rollers, color ribbons, ink, some Olympia gear lubricant,
Adler, Royal, Remington or Olivetti. Maybe that's what it smells hot after work while writing a book - Olivetti typewriter (unintentional brand advertisement) ... I don't know because I've been using a computer since laaaat and by the way I don't write books, but maybe someday - who knows (I'd have something about, but you will need a ghost writer).
I go back to the scent - for me it is a marriage of the scent of leather, labdanum, resins and incense. Somewhere a lot of other notes 'got lost', creating an amazing aroma mix - quite dark, slightly woody, 'slightly greasy' and smoky. Personally, this fragrance reminds me of MiN Moon Dust, although Moon Dust for me is more dusty and dry.

PART 2
Description from the website translated:
'LOS ANGELES, 04:30 / INT: NIGHT
Nothing can beat insomnia, minutes become hours.
And then there is an idea, fragments of a dream, a story of a jetlag-free journey in which you are the hero.
Through your fingers tapping on the keyboard, this nocturnal adventure gets written on the page.

The residual smell of sleep when dawn comes, like the perfume of ink and paper.
Black ink stain on the virgin side of your sleepless nights. '

PART 3
Is it worth a try? I think for fans of darker and smoky scents - yes, is it worth having - I don't know, but I have Moon Dust and I know it doesn't matter what - I'll have a Type Writer.
Durability and good projection - up to 6 hours. For me, a must have item.

Soot from a machine factory
To me it smells like soot. With woody & oudy undertones, smoke and a bit of rubber. I don't remember it very well, but it might be similar to the insides of a typewriter. Very cool, dark, deep and black scent. Wouldn't know where or when to wear it myself, as I think it is a rather masculine perfume. And on the right guy it will smell like a million bucks. Unusual and stylish fragrance. To me truly niche.

Type Writer Revolution
If an intriguing, not to say provocative Type Writer-scented lady were to approach me in the evening, who had taken the Unisex hypothesis in this case quite literally, I would probably find myself in serious embarrassment. As a lover of mechanical typewriters, I would, however, cautiously first ask whether she was more of the GABRIELE, OLIVETTI, or perhaps OLYMPIA or OPTIMA type. An ERIKA or TIPPA I consider excluded in this context; they surely wouldn’t have any inclination towards aromatic elixirs with fragrant constrictors or similarly convoluted olfactory impositions...

The “Type Writer” with its “peculiar” Ortho is, as a scent from a “strange house,” sheer audacity for manic typewriter enthusiasts as well as for typewriter abstainers. One cannot appreciate WD- and other working oils so much that even the SM collector initially wrinkles their nose in indignation, because we are talking about pleasant scents here - right?! The stuff stinks un-pyramidally, and rumors suggest that even Oud is not in the picture.

Horny beavers with labdanum tendencies have been riding around with patchouli, yep! Woods and cistus, perhaps from La Isla Bonita La Palma, are on board - and who knows what kind of amber concoction the two girls have secretly brewed together. After half an hour, however, I feel absolutely splendid among Torpedos, Olympias, and Mercedes', who are stirring their type levers, tabulators, and rollers, lifting their collected, sunken scents from the underground of the 20th century (the secretary's hair!), setting the correct margin, and embracing me with medium line spacing, even though I - no, BECAUSE I smell so robustly and resinously like a grumpy TYPE WRITER.

Hopefully, my love doesn’t come home early.
How should I explain this scent scenario without raising suspicion?!

Extremely fascinating. Dark, oily, leathery yet refined - neither brutal nor rough - perfectly crafted mechanical toys.
