Natural Beauty
Brin de Peau by Parfumeurs du Monde was a wonderful surprise for me. First of all, natural fragrances rarely manage to enchant me in such a way. Clémentine Humeau has succeeded in capturing my attention with this delicate scent. And even more than that. I am truly delighted by this bright and delicate natural beauty that reveals itself to me here.
As always, I test without bias, without first taking a look at fragrance pyramids. And sometimes I experience truly great surprises. This is one of those times. My school French is long behind me and quite rusty, but the name suggests to me that we are dealing with a skin scent. Perhaps it’s because I didn’t initially perceive the hay that it is supposedly supposed to smell like. I catch a delicate, feather-light powder scent. Yes, that indeed reminds me of skin. And it is so different from everything I have encountered in powder scents from classic perfumery so far.
Brin de Peau reminds me of softly cared-for, creamed, perhaps even powdered warm skin. Of course, a subtly scented lotion or similar care products have contributed a bit, but that typical smell that care products from the natural cosmetics sector often bring is completely absent here. Nothing smells typically eco or organic, but rather clearly like a fine perfume, just without those makeup-like notes that classic powder scents often have for me.
By the way, I do not find Brin de Peau sweet at all. Quite the opposite. I actually miss a bit of sweetness here. Another association I have is the memory of a doll I had as a child. I doubt that this toy from the eighties had any natural fragrance, but nonetheless, this beautiful scent reminds me of it and thus feels very familiar to me.
Brin de Peau is certainly not a classic powder scent. When I look at the notes, I find jasmine once again, which is my favored flower, and not violet or rose or iris, as is common in classic powder scents. It seems that leather, which is characteristic of classic skin scents, was also not used here. I can detect the tonka bean, later also the hay, but everything is so finely woven into a scent tapestry that nothing particularly stands out. Even the jasmine I wouldn’t have recognized directly, as it has rarely come to me in such a delicate form before. I would have actually suspected the iris here.
In any case, I have poured a few drops of this beauty before the discovery set, which my dear Delightful has provided me, can continue its journey this weekend. Yes, I do not rule out that this could become love. Dreamily beautiful scent!
