Tonka Cream

I cannot let go off this scent!
After the first test the memory of this perfume and the desire to spray it once again is so strong. By now I'm done with my third test and I really wished to own a big bottle in order to spray it without any control.
But there are two flaws:
1. It is a little too discreet meaning it stays too close on one's skin so that sillage is an issue and you could get the impression that it is not as intensive as wanted.
2. I smell something odd like plastic.

Right from the beginning I smell a fat, chubby tonka bean, that bathes joyfully in a pool of whipped cream. You could easily expect a gourmand but that s not it because discreet citric notes do play a role. Actually you cann't detect these citric notes but they are present and as a effect they make the tonka-cream slide in a beauty-cream. The amount of the citric notes are comparable to those of Nivea-Creme.

This tonka-cream that is so discreetly floral and citric does not have much sillage power. It belongs to the category of feel-well and cozy scents. And I think that friends of gourmands as well as friends of clean scents will like it, since the intersection of these two categories can only be a feel-well scent.

Well, I love this perfume and I wish to spray it generously all over me to experience how discreet or how strong it really is i.e. to find out about its sillage and projection.
Warning: Do not test this fragrance or you will fall in love with it. Only available in 100 ml (3.3 oz) bottles unfortunately!!! that cost around 170€.

So my dear ones, I will now gather all my strength to write the truth and nothing but the truth!
Speaking of truth, there used to be a Russian newspaper: "Prawda", I still remember the Cyrillic script... Prawda means truth in Russian and Polish ;)

"Prawda" leads slowly to the content of Profumi by Night White, please, a little more patience.
Since I come from Poland and lived my childhood and youth during communism, I have associations that perhaps an average perfume reader does not have, so I would like to write briefly: Communism was the social market economy and the rule of the working class. Everything belonged to the state, and everyone had a job, vacations, and... and... yes, what else? Nothing more. Since everything belonged to the state, it belonged to no one. Because there were only state-owned enterprises, which belonged to the state - to no one, and there was no competition, almost everything was of poorer quality, ugly packaging, and the most important: it was either not available or in too small quantities. Everything you wanted to buy had to be fought for by standing in line for hours.
For example, such a laundry detergent. Gray-brown boxes with watered-down colors and gray stinking powder inside. To buy it... yes: stand in line...
Now I finally come to the point: Profumi del Forte By Night White reminds me of this laundry detergent: a lot of laundry detergent-like synthetic, piercing, biting, dry, with an undefined unpleasant smell: citrusy, waxy... I suspect Heliotrope, which I can't stand in nature, plus Tonka and Bergamot, which I normally like very much and can smell well in the perfume, but what is this communist laundry detergent made in the People's Republic of Poland doing here?!
I'm sorry, I will never forget the smell and unfortunately By Night White reminds me too much of that... :/
Certainly a question of skin but maybe also bad memories? Because I haven't found any negative comments here... But I write only the truth!
When it comes to perfumes, everything is subjective, I can't find anything pleasant here, it's just not my perfume...

The sillage and longevity: very good.
Fortunately, communism was not so long-lasting and the times of socialism are over... but I could not have gotten to know By Night White if communism were still alive ;)

New Bottle, New Scent

I know that a 25th comment isn't necessarily needed, but I have new insights that might interest fans of By Night White. A few days ago, I already asked in the forum about the scent in the new bottle, as I suspected that the fragrance had changed. I wasn't sure if it was just due to the decants I had previously emptied. It can happen that the decants are responsible for changes in, for example, the top notes. In my case, I had purchased two full travel spray bottles from Parfumas, one in glass--TZ, the other in plastic-TZ. The scent smelled equally beautiful in both cases, so I decided to buy a bottle. I chose the 75ml version in the new design - the bottle is made of glass and has a golden cap.
When I tested the scent for the first time, I was confused. The top note was much more lemony and less spicy, followed by a creamy, vanilla base. I kept testing the scent and then asked in the forum if anyone had made similar observations. No one could really help me. The lovely Parfuma Azura then had the idea to include a fresh sample from her marble bottle with a deal, so I would have a direct comparison.
Here is my result:
The scent in the new bottle has a very lemony top note. The old scent, on the other hand, starts spicier and a bit sweeter. In the heart note, the new scent becomes very creamy, while the old scent seems much more powdery to me. In the base, the old bottle leaves a slightly spicy, powdery vanilla. In the new bottle, the base note has a creamy vanilla that is more musky-sweet. Overall, the sillage of the new scent is stronger.

So much for my impressions for now. I would be very interested to know if anyone knows both versions and especially which of the comments here is dedicated to which scent/bottle.

I must say that I like the new version; my friend even prefers it. Still, I miss the powdery and spicy notes of the old scent. If anyone wants to sell their marble bottle, please contact me ;) Perhaps a swap is also possible; surely the new version will appeal to some.

Watercolor Painting

I had to wait a long time before I could finally test this highly praised fragrance. I was a bit skeptical about whether By Night White would evoke enthusiasm in me, or if I would have to try to diplomatically package a negative comment again. Well, I can understand all the comments. The perfume is truly elegant, lovely, romantic, cozy, pastel, and delicate. But - and you probably guessed it - I prefer oil paintings in vibrant colors to watercolors, and so BNW is just too lovely, too romantic, too cozy for me, etc.

I actually like the opening the best, as coriander seed and lemon create a zesty-spicy start that carries almost Mediterranean notes. However, the floral notes of the actual theme of the fragrance become just too creamy-sweet for me. Tonka bean, vanilla, and sandalwood further emphasize this theme in the dry down, and once again, this is a fragrance that evokes in me the desire for a fish sandwich with lots of onions. I positively note that the fragrance maintains its mood from the top note to the base. It has a common thread that consistently runs through the entire progression and is quite suitable for everyday wear despite its sweetness. But just not for me.

Mind you, BNW is not to blame. It is a fragrance with personality, soft and cuddly, floral, powdery, and sweet. I don't want to deny it a certain naive-girlish elegance, but I would rather smell such a fluid on baby care than on myself.

Because first of all, it comes differently...

...than one usually thinks second (third, etc.).

In April, I ordered a sample of By Night White because I was sure while reading the fragrance notes that it was something for me.

1st test, April 2013 (spring nowhere in sight): I find By Night White lightly fresh at the start, powdery, vanillic, and sweet, a bit uninspired and somewhat old-ladyish. The tendency is clearly a no.

2nd test, in summer: I don't find it that bad anymore. Still too powdery, see above, tralalala, but now also creamy, listen up. However, it lacks edges and corners. Conclusion - I still don't need it, but for some reason that I don't understand at all, I decide not to pass By Night White on, but to test it again later.

3rd test, in autumn: Suddenly I find it somehow beautiful, very lovely (!?) and above all so calming. A wonderful, creamy fragrance. But indeed without mystery, without spice, without wickedness, without sex. That won't do. After all, I'm not twenty anymore. And would I want to wear it outside? Probably not.

4th test, the night before last: I can't get my nose off my wrist. Oh God, it smells so good. To hell with mystery, spice, wickedness, and sex. Yes, it is without edges and corners, but so beautifully powdery-creamy enveloping, so soothing and comforting, so flattering and loving. Healing. And it is by no means a twenty-something scent. And anyway, it doesn't matter at all whether I wanted to wear it outside if I want to wear it at home.

So, (my) prime example for the urgent need to test fragrances multiple times.

Man, oh man...
