Strawberries and cream flavoured ice-cream
I like following my instincts, and my instincts a while ago told me to sample Versilia Aurum whatever the cost. I think it was the world's way of saying that a sweet, strawberry based fragrance could be successful if blended with the right, quality ingredients.

The more times I wear Versilia Aurum, the more enchanted with it I become. It smells like strawberries, but instead of being candied or synthetically sharp, it is presented as a delicious bowl of strawberries and cream flavoured icecream. Creamy, smooth, sugary and enticing.

With that being said, Versilia Aurum does tend to have a gourmand feel throughout, however it's more complex than just strawberry icecream. The heart is a beautiful, feminine blend of powdery florals. When the powder blends with the sugary fruits, the result is quite dusty, soft and pleasing. I can detect a certain accord that resembles the scent of vintage cosmetics, like the scent of face powder and lipsticks. There's a quaintness to it that I really like.

It was at this point that I stopped and realised that Versilia Aurum was designed with a specific point in mind, that it was to resemble or pay homage to a precious metal; gold. Rose gold perhaps, but not gold itself. I find gold much bolder and spicier than this. This fragrance makes me think of all things pink. I'm surprised to see this listed as unisex to be honest. However I understand that I could be biased as this fragrance does settle on my skin in a very feminine and pretty way.

Unfortunately the longevity is not fabulous. I spritzed it on around midday, and found it to have disappeared by late afternoon. The sillage is also surprisingly intimate and soft. I like it this way, however I didn't expect it to be so wispy.

This fragrance has proven to me that sugary strawberry scents, when composed well, can be absolutely delicious on the skin. A full bottle may cost a small fortune, but for those that love strawberries and want a step up from those nauseatingly candied scents, Versilia Aurum is the way to go.

beautiful caramel and that's about it
There are scents that have a couple of notes and yet smell like they hold secrets of a cavern. Then there are some perfumes that have a whole chorus of notes and yet only a few are resounding. Versilia Aurum falls into the latter group. It's caramel upon caramel, with a hint of fruit and flowers at most. It smells delicious, exactly like good old caramel sauce. However if you looked at the notes and expected something exciting, it is not. Hands down the best caramel scent I've come across yet, realistic and no artificial or synthetic vibes coming across. Sillage and longevity are very very good. However, I'm not too sure I would fork over the required amount to wear caramel. I would like to add that months on, I'm thankful that I kept to my decant and did not spring for a full bottle as I'm already bored of it, as pretty as it is.

Versilia Aurum, you beautiful piece!
I fear it was a sample that came with a souk package that led me into the arms of this fragrance, but I can't remember exactly. So if anyone else remembers, feel free to chime in… :)

Versilia Aurum is quite special, as these "edible" scents are not for everyone. However, I really like it; there are one or two lemon tarts, fruit salads, baked goods in my collection. If you don't want to smell like "sweets," you can forget about this spray fluid.

Versilia Aurum is pink. But not bright pink and garish, rather a dusty rose with a hint of gray. Not girlish, but like a lady you could just bite into. On the right day, in the right dosage, in the right location, it can achieve great things. In the wrong place and applied with too much "punch," it becomes overly candy-like and overwhelming.

Versilia Aurum needs to work through silence. A whisper as you pass by, a small trace in the elevator, lingering in a crowded train compartment. Then it is interesting, then it can "be."

Versilia Aurum does not really evolve in scent. Strawberries, cream, vanilla, the end. But it doesn't need anything more. In a collection, it is the "Other," the one that is only worn in special moods. The one that is needed for cuddling on the couch, the one that brings warmth to summer days and lights up winter evenings.

Versilia Aurum is round, complete, and wonderfully uncomplicated - if you take it as it is meant to be.
You don't always have to smell different at all costs; sometimes, a little cream candy to spray on is enough to make the world around you a bit simpler.

Tourist Terrorists
Versilia is a coastal region in Tuscany, named after the Versilia River. The perfume Versilia Aurum is meant to evoke holiday summer evenings when the sun slowly sets and bathes the landscape in golden light.
And indeed, I feel a warm summer glow, I can even see the orange-golden light through my nose; I crave a fruity cocktail. I would love to settle in here comfortably…
…if it weren't for the loud screeching of a tour group disturbing me to the core! Regina Rainbow, Emily Strawberry, the gummy bear gang, and My Little Pony are throwing a wild beach party. They drink sweetened orange juice, slurp loudly on Campinos, and munch on strawberry yogurt with plastic spoons. They create a huge mess, splattering their sugary treats all over nature, and I feel the urge to give these brats a good earful, take away their sweets, and yell at them, childhood heroes or not, to treat the flowers and woods with more respect!
It takes a full two hours for the noisy bunch to tire themselves out. Finally, it gets quieter, gentler, more pleasant. If I had just arrived at the beach now, I would have missed the spectacular sunset, but I could have smiled at the sleeping party crew, the strawberry yogurt splatters sticking to the (already sweet) flowers, the rustling Campino wrappers, and the last remnants of juice soaking into the sand. However, since I had to witness the whole drama beforehand, the southern elegance that now tries to lull me with seductive floral sweetness and woody wafts can no longer reach me. Poolboy Musk now also timidly approaches, trying to clean up a bit. But my nose is overwhelmed by the kitschy-sweet sensory overload of the last two hours! I am not to be reconciled. I feel sick. I leave the cocktail untouched and go for a salami sandwich instead.

That's amore!
Maybe I am indeed a female Dorian Gray. The older I get, the "younger" my taste in perfumes becomes, my fragrance preferences evolve, and I even shed prejudices. Not only did I once steer clear of Italian (niche) fragrances (many were simply too much for me), but I also found overly sweet scents to be an abomination.
Then I discovered Profumi de Forte. First, the dreamy By Night (White), which Parfumo made so enticing that I eventually bought it, and now this beautiful gourmand in the strawberry meringue class. And here I find myself at odds with Kankuro and Apicius, whose assessments I usually greatly appreciate and can understand.
Recently, I acquired a "vintage" Versilia Aurum on vacation, meaning the one with the marble cap in the sleek bottle. And I do not regret it for a second, because

1. the bottle is already a dream
2. the top note is fruity-sweet, but not as synthetic as some mainstream fruit bombs.
3. the fragrance remains gourmand in its development, but elegant and not overpowering.
4. the longevity is brilliant compared to fruit Escadas and American celebrity fruit fizzers.

I hardly perceive any floral notes, but rather creamy-sweet bursts of tonka/vanilla that become slightly smoky in the drydown. Throughout the entire evolution, the sillage remains strong but not intrusive, and the presence is consistently (for lack of a better description, I must simply say...) cozy.
Not a red Campino candy, but a fruity, creamy slice of cake.
And who doesn’t love light fruit tarts in the summer, especially when they are completely calorie-free?

Right from the start, sweet gourmand notes - fruity ester notes - very sugary, then flowers reconcile, and finally a bit too much musk.

Strawberry ice cream, creamy, a bit of fair skin, that's from the musk. Delicate melt.
A gourmand that I actually like (Thanks to Bastian)

Reminds me of Eau de Charlotte by Goutal. First fruity-sweet, then more feminine with a floral touch. The strawberry note is heavenly.

Reminds me of my childhood. A doll scent but very refined, not at all cheesy. Very warm with a delicate synthetic strawberry note. Great!

Quite artificial strawberries, rich flowers, doughy sweet. Reminds me a lot of Eau de Lacoste Sensuelle. Not for me.
