Concentré/Intense? Rather weak, spicy licorice
In the wake of the Intense and Extreme craze, it seems that some lesser-known designer brands are also trying to put their fragrance creations in the spotlight. As is often the case, there is not much behind Replay Intense. In other words: If this is the Intense version of this fragrance, then I really don't want to know how weak the "normal" version must be!
But first, let's get to the description. Right from the first spray, I feel a bit conflicted: On one hand, the sprayer itself is really great because it disperses the perfume very finely and thus distributes it over a large area; on the other hand, I find the opening to be extremely overpowering. A strong sweetness comes to the forefront at first and mixes with the spices to create a kind of body odor that I last experienced in the boys' locker room after 90 minutes of running in the heat of summer. It’s that typical mustiness that rises from the short synthetic shorts of well-known sports brands.
I’m actually quite glad about the poor longevity of Replay Intense because the scent changes significantly after just a few minutes - and for the better. Somehow, the sweetness decreases quite a bit and makes way for a woody note (probably the guaiac wood), which, together with the spices, leaves a kind of soapy scent impression. It reminds me a bit of hotel soap, but definitely not as sharp due to the sweet note and considerably less synthetic. At this stage, the scent is really pleasant and absolutely mass-appealing. Replay Intense has no special character whatsoever. As time goes on, the sweetness returns a bit, which after a few hours is pretty much the only thing I can still perceive alongside the weak woody note.
Longevity: weak at about four hours; however, the sweet note lingers for half a day
Sillage: practically only present in the first two hours in close proximity, then extremely close to the skin
Bottle: functional and boring; however, the grooves in the glass are nicely grippy
~Conclusion~
A good choice when you have absolutely no idea what to wear today. When spraying, it’s a matter of gritting your teeth, enjoying the good sprayer, and waiting a few minutes for the heart note. Personally, I find the sweet note a bit annoying in summer.
Not a character fragrance, no real message, everything has been smelled before in one way or another and found to be okay. 100% office-appropriate, but the longevity only lasts for half a position.
