Red Dragons Wear Hermès
Uncommented Fragrances No. 162
I am neither a particular fan of the brand Replay nor is Terre d'Hermès one of my greatest favorites, but I like it. I am also not a fan of dupes, but I usually orient myself towards the original. In this case, I will make an exception.
The red dragon from Replay unmistakably breathes Terre d'Hermès fire, which is not just a cheap copy, even though the parallels are striking (pink pepper, black pepper, grapefruit, geranium, light woods / cedar, patchouli, vetiver). Instead, it is a darker version of TdH, characterized by the spicy, earthy, smoky warm note of cardamom, which shines through even more in the drydown. While Red Dragon still remains a dark relative of the great original, it develops enough individuality on the skin and sometimes even on fabric that one cannot simply speak of a unimaginative fragrance twin.
An important argument for the Replay fragrance is its price, which is at drugstore level, yet it is by no means synthetic or less complex than TdH. For fans of the latter, it is a real alternative or a complement to the collection.
Note: The fragrance tip Red Dragon comes from Paul Divjak in his book "The Perfumed Man."
