Cool and edgy like a leather jacket
With a name like "Hollyrose" I was expecting something soft, floral, and sweet. But this "Hollyrose" is a tough chick! For me, the opening is a blast of new suede. It is very close to a "new car" smell to me.

The rose is there but it takes a bit of drying down to really perceive it. I don't even want to call this one a floral at all. I also smell something fresh and green in the mix. Maybe a hint of lemon? The whole combination is a rubbery, chemical smell. I can't say I want to wear it myself, but I can see the appeal.

Like scentwitch says, it's "edgy." I don't enjoy it personally, but it might fit your personality. I imagine it on a woman with short hair and tattoos, who wears leather jackets and ripped jeans and rides a motorcycle. Come to think of it,
this is exactly how I imagine Ruby Rose (actress) would smell.

An edgy leather scent for ladies
As far as leathery perfumes go in my opinion, this one isn’t bad at all. I’m a woman who isn’t fond of leather scent notes, so I was disappointed after first spraying Hollyrose. However, after time the leather is lighter than let’s say Tom Ford’s Ombré Leather, and in my book that’s really good. I quickly liked it. Combined with the rose it’s leather edge disappears. Don’t get me wrong—it’s definitely still there, just not harsh.
It’s a good leather choice for women who are edgy and don’t play by the rules. I like it.

Rose petals stuffed in the pockets of a leather jacket.
As the name suggests, this is a rose-dominant scent, but has that leather kick that the R1015 line doesn't shy away from. Hollyrose starts off with a woodsy, almost tobacco scent, and is followed closely after with the rose oil absorbing into the leather. There's a little bit of sweetness in addition to the rose oil, which rounds down the harshness of the spice that trails on top of the leather. I like this one quite a bit, but some days I do have to be a little more patient for the dry-down to come in.

New car smell and a masculine rose
Leather is super hit-or-miss for me and this was a big miss. Very heavy "new car" synthetic leather smell with a powdery rose on top. I personally prefer a more natural, animalic leather smell. Could be an exciting pick for someone looking for a more masculine take on a rose scent.

If you bought this expecting more femininity, I recommend layering it with something fruity and floral. My wife layered it with Gisada Ambassadora and the result was fresh and feminine but with a sexy leather undertone.

Can I call you Rose?
Saturday evening, the heavy door to the backyard opens and for a brief moment warm air and music floods into the darkness. A woman with dark curls in a much too big black leather jacket leans against a stack of pallets, takes the last drag from her cigarette, then kicks it out in her vintage 18-hole Doc Martens and looks at her watch. She should have been home hours ago, she has to work tomorrow and will be dog-tired all day. But the evening was so great, the music, the people ... and after all, you only live once.
The door opens again.
"Rose, darling, you'll catch your death out there!"
"Don't call me Rose!" she hisses, "You know I don't like that bourgeois name."
" Alright... Holly..." he drew out the o with emphasis, "you owe me a drink for quaffing all over my jacket!"
"Your jacket? I'm keeping it!" he returned cheekily. She pushed past him back into the warmth, the smell of the new leather jacket - HIS leather jacket - mixed with her perfume and a hint of smoke in his nose.
"Mhhmhhh, we'll see about that," he grumbled. "Why are you wearing rose perfume of all things if you think the name is so stupid?"
"Oh shut up! ... What do you want to drink?"

Rose and leather is a combination that works well. The scent is quite linear on me, I immediately get a very opulent, heavy rose with plenty of leather in my nose. But not a soft, light brown suede but a little edgy, black, with studs on the seams.
Holly is the English name for the holly, an evergreen plant that is mainly known here from the Christmas season (the prickly leaves with the red berries). That fits - after all, this holly rose is also somewhat non-conformist and definitely has thorns.

Allow me to make the following metaphorical comparison: Peony & Blush Suede Cologne is Adele, Hollyrose makes me think of Amy Whinehouse.

Hollyrose lasts enormously well (6-8+ hours, on clothes it feels endless...) and you have to be a little careful with the dosage - at least during the day or in small rooms. I emptied my leftover sample this morning (1.2 sprays more than usual) and now unfortunately have to spend the day with the office window open, otherwise my colleague will die a beautiful death of roses. Beyond 18°C, Hollyrose would be too much of a good thing for me, but as a fall/winter fragrance it fits perfectly.

Very strong initially, but balances into a nice leather scent with a tiny hint of rose after 2 hours.

An edgy rose/leather accord with patchouli in the background. If you like rose and leather, great. If you don't, skip.
