Sonic detergent powder

A laundry-fresh take on musk and iris.

It's very fruity in the opening, i could have sworn this would have pear or something like that and was surprised there are absolutely no fruit listed at all. The iris in this is waxy and slightly sweet, not overly powdery. There is a vegetal earthiness in the background, so the carrot seed note makes sense, but does not take over the whole scent. Pink pepper makes the drydown a bit drier and slightly woodsy.

All in all this is much airier, juicier and also sweeter than what I expected from the notes. The scent definitely has some Glossier You vibes without being an exact dupe, it's less skin-like and closer to a the scent of good detergent.

I would recommend Sonic Flower to fans of clean laundry musks, but it doesn't stand out enough for me personally to fall in love with it.

Lovely Everyday Scent

The the first few hours of wear remind me of leaning in to sniff a perfume sample in a magazine -- peppery, lightly musky, and above that, the unmistakable smell of glossy paper. With time, the synthetic notes fade into a soft, cozy skin scent that's clean without being soapy. Wears close to the skin but lasts the day on me without issue. This is truly an any season, any occasion perfume.

Not for me, alas

I just think I don't like cashmeran / cashmere wood as a note. All these skin scents everyone raves about dry down like a musty woody dusty on my skin. If you love this, you'll probably also love Angel Dust by Fugazzi, Fleur de Peau, L'Eau Papier, and the Glossier You scents.

For me, I either go noseblind and don't smell anything at all, or it just smells like pencil shavings, dust and dry wood. Alas.

watercolour pencils

Translucent coloured pencils, in shades of rose quartz and buffy taupe. Sonic Flower is a membrane-thin musk that plays both powdery and watery. Like watercolours drying upon fine parchment. The star is a pale wood pulp, thanks to the carrot seed, and a starchy fruit accord, which I can best describe as the core of an unripe pear. I’m obsessed. (Only in fragrance reviews will you find shit like: “I love the smell of half-desiccated fruit and pencil shavings”). But this is such an easy wear. Sonic Flower is clean, comforting, and – here comes the hitch – criminally ephemeral. I uncorked the tester and poured it on myself but couldn’t scent it longer than two hours. Still my favourite of the “your-skin-but-better” gang thus far. And a fine addition to my growing list of “freshly-sharpened-pencil” scents (see Byredo’s Desert Dawn and Universal Flowering’s Burst!).

Nothing groundbreaking but I keep coming back to it

It's earthy, musky, and soft floral. I definitely notice the carrot at the beginning, but it balances to a powdery musky purple floral. This is what I hoped Fleur de Peau would have smelled like. It's not a fragrance that's going to draw attention, but it's just softly pleasant and I could see this becoming an everyday wear.
