Purple floral
I think this is my favourite out of the Sarah Jessica Parker fragrance collection. The scent itself surprised me. I was expecting something really fruity, perhaps even similar to the original Covet. Covet Pure Bloom is much lighter, sweeter and more flowery.

I really love the coconut in this fragrance. It gives that aura of an exotic celebration which makes this perfume best suited to the warmer months. The plum note also keeps this fragrance from becoming too citrusy, blending well with the tuberose and jasmine.

I find the bottle very appealing. It is cute yet feminine and pretty. The purple colouring suits this perfume well.

Unfortunately, Pure Bloom does not have good lasting power. However, because this fragrance is so light and fresh, reapplying during the day would not be of any problem.

Covet's Sorry Little Sister
I wish that I could say that my enthusiasm for COVET extended to COVET PURE BLOOM, but, alas, I cannot. I still love the bottle, but this combination of essentially all of the notes omitted from COVET—with purple fruits and "abstract florals" dominating the show—is neither intriguing nor complex. Synthetic, yes indeed, and not in an appealing avant-garde way. This is the sort of perfume that gives "abstract florals" a very bad name.

I tried a sample of COVET PURE BLOOM last winter and was not at all appalled by it, so I decided to acquire a bottle, hoping to discover that this composition was "challenging" like its predecessor. Instead, I found over the summer that PURE BLOOM is difficult to wear but not challenging at all. It may be that this is a strictly cold weather composition, so I'll try again in cold weather—if I can muster up the courage.

If I decide in the end that COVET PURE BLOOM is not for me even in the depths of winter—when forbidding purple liquids are far less volatile—I'll keep my bottle nonetheless so that I have a pair of water faucet handles: one purple, the other peridot. They look beautiful lined up next to one another. COVET is hot; COVET PURE BLOOM is cold.

Pure Bloom... or so
Covet Pure Bloom is the second perfume by Sarah Jessica Parker that I wanted to test. Covet impressed me a lot, setting the bar high. So why not try the "pure bloom"?

Right after application, it starts off very floral, a true onslaught of jasmine. In this case, Pikake. These white flowers are also known as Hawaiian jasmine. They are used in the making of traditional flower leis.

The scent is very sweet and almost cloying. Unfortunately, for me, it also comes across as synthetic and not really pleasant. This impression is further amplified by the tuberose, making the scent quite heavy and floral. This impression hits you like a splash and thankfully fades away soon. For me personally, it's too much pure bloom.

The perfume becomes a bit softer and the fruity notes make their appearance. Watery mandarins and plums emit a slightly aquatic and sweet scent. The fruity touch is actually quite pleasant and not overly sugary, but also a bit lackluster. A milky coconut note gives the fragrance an exotic touch and weakly fades into the base. You will search in vain for any naturalness here. The sillage, which is strong at first, quickly diminishes. Now Pure Bloom is akin to a fruity body lotion. The floral notes keep rearing up until they are completely wilted. I can’t detect sandalwood at any time; musk and amber ultimately give the scent a hint of warmth.

This all plays out over about four hours, after which the EdP can only be perceived as a weak, sweet, and warm whisper that you sniff for on your wrist. Very close to the skin and shy, disappointing for me.

For spring or summer, it's a floral and slightly exotic splash that doesn't last long. I would rather wear it in my leisure time or at the office. For going out, I find it too unremarkable.

I find the name rather misleading, as this perfume has nothing to do with Covet aside from the shape of the bottle. The flowers were very compact, intense, and short-lived. Unfortunately, too sweet and artificial for my taste. Then a few fruits that float around in watery coconut milk, and finally a monotonous, sweet, and weak finish. I only wore the perfume for a day and had to reapply in the evening, only to realize that the scent was getting on my nerves.

Anyone looking for a sweet, fruity, and floral scent with a weak sillage might enjoy Pure Bloom. Since the scent is very close to the skin, it could also be good for women who have scent-sensitive colleagues.

Thanks again to Liebmausdana for the decant. :-)

I had to have that one, too!
Just for this beautiful bottle, which shimmers in a wonderfully delicate lilac. I really like this color! However, after the first spray, I thought it should actually be much brighter and pinker to match the scent, because it starts off very oriental sweet with a strong alcohol note and a slightly scratchy coconut opening. I'm not a big fan of coconut; I don't like it in shampoos or body lotions, and consequently not in perfumes either. I hate Pina Colada, and for me, it's only indispensable in Thai food. Real coconut milk isn't overly sweet, unlike most perfumes in this direction.
After a few minutes, this scent becomes much milder, and a very special note comes in that immediately reminds me of another perfume, namely Poison by Dior! Only much more delicate and blended with creamy coconut. Poison was my very first perfume, and when you, as a teenager, joyfully douse yourself in it every morning before school and then feel all grown-up while torturing teachers and classmates with this wonderfully thick cloud, the scent stays in your mind forever. I would have never thought to add coconut to this composition, but what can I say, it's good. Very good, in fact!
Jasmine and coconut push each other back and forth, while the tuberose plays more of a supporting role, just like the slightly zesty mandarin. I perceive the plum much stronger, which gives everything a nice, slightly fruity dark depth that eventually transitions into a pleasantly delicious creaminess of amber and musk. After a few hours, all that remains on my skin is a delicate floral, soapy hint of sunscreen, which, despite all its fluffiness, cannot be denied a certain freshness. And now the color of the bottle fits as well. The scent really has something lush about it and instantly transports me to a hot, steamy summer night after it has just rained. I LOVE that! At every pool party, Pure Bloom would be my very first choice; it is delicious, lightly fresh, elegantly grown-up but still carefree, seductive and close to the skin, even somewhat erotic, for me an absolute feel-good scent. Also for summer nights when you’re barefoot but with a flower in your hair, relaxing on the beach sipping a cocktail while music from Enrique Iglesias plays somewhere in the background or something. I think that comparison fits quite well, because I can't stand Iglesias' mushy songs every day, but there are moments when it fits wonderfully. Pure Bloom is just like that. I can't imagine taking it to the office every day or wearing it for shopping, etc.; it’s just too special for that. While it does have something "clean" about it in the broadest sense, especially in the dry down, the exotic clearly prevails, and I personally associate it more with relaxed evening hours.
Anyone who actually likes coconut but has so far kept their distance because most scents of this kind drift into the squeaky fruity sweet teenage direction should definitely give this one a try ;-)

Fallen from Grace
I expressed myself too harshly about this fragrance in a statement. As has happened to me before, the first impression was not the last. The perfume struck me as overwhelmingly soapy, although I liked the scent itself and found it a pity that the fragrance couldn't be presented in a less soapy way. By now, I have somewhat warmed up to the soapiness; it doesn't seem as strong to me anymore. For some reason, I always want to wear it to sleep. Others talk about lavender perfumes, for me it seems to be tuberose that sings "lullabies" to me. It could also be that the fragrance needs warmer temperatures for other notes to shine through better. And to fit better into a warm season... It’s quite possible that others perceive this soapiness as a pleasant powderiness. Tastes are known to differ, and that's a good thing... It is uncomplicated, but not flat. The balance between sweet and not sweet is very well struck. Overall, the fragrance gives me a youthful and carefree impression. Perhaps it helps me leave everything behind in the evening and drift into the realm of dreams with a light head...

Bold tuberose with a coconut undertone. It is continually morphing into something better, and it is strong enough to suit me; I like it!

Somehow an old-school floral jumble...too much floral-plum combo for my taste.
