Light, flowery and fresh
This was the first Britney fragrance I bought.

I remember craving this fragrance when it first came out. I would always remember to spray this on me whenever I passed the fragrance counter at my local department store. I was so young at the time, it would be at least another 4 years before I actually owned Curious.

When I finally owned a bottle of this, I rarely used it. I wanted to wear stronger and louder fragrances, and Curious just seemed too light at the time. It wasn't until my perfume collection started spiralling out of control that I came back to this scent.

In the warmer months Curious really blossomed. The fragrance was light, flowery yet musky. On the skin it was soft, delicate and feminine.

Curious is what I'd call a soft and pretty floral scent. In the opening you can smell the pear blending with the jasmine, tuberose and magnolia. This fragrance kick-started my love for white florals.

The drydown is quite musky, yet the vanilla adds a slight sweetness, rounding off the scent nicely.

I'm not ashamed to say that I wore this fragrance during this year's Summer, donning it every day until every last drop was gone. The scent left me feeling refreshed and clean.

The lasting power unfortunately wasn't great, (possibly the reason why I haven't repurchased this fragrance). However if I received Curious again as a gift I would not complain.

Overall, Curious is a distinctive fragrance best suited to young girls searching for something light, flirtatious and pretty.

Lollipop made of pear and flowers
Curious smells totally synthetic to me but I have to admit that it is not an unpleasant scent. The choice of magnolia as the lead floral note is quite nice. It adds the floral freshness and tenderness to the scent. The tuberose and jasmine are light and gentle. But what makes this scent different from a straight up floral bouquet is the pear. I can smell it right from the start and it does not go away. The pear note in Curious is artificial and lollipop like. It wraps around the floral notes bringing the whole composition into candyland world. The sweetness later on supported by the vanilla note, which surfaces in the base. The scent is not overly strong and the lasting power is medium.

The scent is playful, carefree and fun but it also a bit juvenile in my humble opinion. I definitely do not see it as seductive or sensual. There is something about the candy flowers that is just remind me too much of a lollipop.

I Always Come Back To You, Curious
This is still a summer staple for me because it hits all the right notes - it's blue but not in a clubby way, aquatic but in a feminine way, sweet but in a fruity way rather than like vanilla ice cream, and floral but not stuffy or oppressive. So many floral aquatics are just florals with a hint of water and those aquatic notes quickly fade. Not here - Curious is linear and doesn't change much from beginning to end. If you like florals as long as they're not too overpowering, you may like this.

It's nicely balanced, has OK longevity for such an inexpensive fragrance, and has a really cute bottle (bring back the pink charms!)

I don't get "soap" from this and I think when most people are calling it soapy, they're saying that it smells like a "Sparkling Waterfall" type of aquatic floral fragrance you'd find in soap, not that it actually has a soapy note. I don't ever buy soaps that smell like this so this just smells like Curious to me.

Do I have nostalgia goggles on? Maybe but they are at least partially off - I am constantly trying floral-fruity aquatics to find one that elevates this a bit or gives it a modern edge as Curious does feel very young and a little dated. For me personally, nothing beats it.

A solid debut
Picture this: It's 2004. I'm 16 years old and I'm watching TV with my friends. We collectively saw the commercial for Curious Britney Spears for the first time and sat in stunned silence. Given that I was (and still am) a huge Britney fan, I was shook. I knew I needed this perfume immediately.

I received a 3oz bottle with the atomizer for Christmas that year. I had always dreamed of owning a perfume with an old fashioned atomizer. The box design and charms attached to the bottle were different from anything I had seen before. Unfortunately, the atomizer was faulty, and I found it difficult to splash the perfume with a bottle that size. I didn't find the scent to be appropriate for me at that point in time. It had a soapy yet sharp quality. It was also way too similar to the Avon perfume my grandma had given me earlier that year. In terms of longevity and sillage, it was more like an EDT than a EDP. A common critique of Curious was the liquid turned from clear to a stark yellow within the first year. I can see why they later promoted Fantasy more heavily, as that was better formulated at launch. A few years later, I enjoyed Versace Bright Crystal, which I believe was formulated and launched to compete with Curious, given that they smell similar to each other.

I last tested it in 2020, when I was preparing to move. It smelled off and I had to throw it away. I would be willing to try it again, though it's my understanding that the current iterations of all of Britney's perfumes are now horribly watered down. Her brand was recently acquired by Give Back Beauty. It goes without saying that what happened to Britney and her brand is incredibly sad. She no longer owns her fragrance line, nor any trademarks previously owned by her. If there ever comes a day where she regains control, I'll be there to support her.

Simple Joy!
Curious is a perfume that I remember since forever.
As a die hard vintage lover I never knew that one day I will have in my collection this perfume.
This IMHO is a floral aquatic at least on me.
I can feel the magnolia the jasmine and a lil of tuberose.
The pear makes it aquatic and fruity but not too sweet.
It is an elegant perfume and I can imagine myself wearing it all summer.
The longevity is good but I don't mind I have the huge 100ml bottle and I can reapply every 4 hours.
Somewhere I read that a girl wore this for her wedding.
Not a bad idea at all, I find it very good if you like soft florals.
Thanx Britney.

Nothing out of the ordinary. Shampoo-like scent. Fresh and classy though. Lasts well over 8 hours on me surprisingly.

So nostalgic, and now so affordable! This was my first real perfume, and it still smells the same to me. Great longevity and a crowd pleasing scent.

Powdery floral with pear and sweet woods. Insane how this is rated so low. Classic.

Feminine aquatic that works. It wasn't my favorite but I always found the perfect occasion for it. My favorite bottle back in the day!

I picked this one for the bottle. It's a nice scent, but not really me. It's delicate, and delicate doesn't fit with my personality.

Girlish, innocent, and at the same time elegant.

Soft florals with such soapiness that I swear I feel bubbles tickling my nose. Not juvenile, but rather timeless.
