A Fresh Coconut Breeze
Wow, I did not expect to like this so much. NYC Pure Crush is a surprisingly good coconut scent. SJP's original NYC was such a run of the mill, overly sweet, fruity-floral that I did not hold up much hope for this one. Coconut is also so frequently done badly in perfumes that, although I love the fruit's smell, I never really expect good things in coconut-based scents. The note is so often artificial smelling.

I find the coconut in NYC Pure Crush to be fresh, gently sweet and natural smelling. Coconut is a natural with white flowers for a tropical fragrance, and the floral and coconut notes are married very nicely here (with the coconut definitely being dominant). This is more of a fresh tropical breeze-type scent rather than a beachy suntan lotion aroma. The vanilla is soft and gentle as well, not at all sharp or burnt smelling as can sometime be the case with vanilla.

This is not an especially complex scent, but if you are a fan of coconut, you should absolutely check this out. Well done SJP.

Simply Coconut
With Covet, I already have a so-called celebrity fragrance from SJP that I quite like. Normally, I am more than skeptical about celebrity fragrances, as these celebrities usually only lend their name to the scent and cash in for it. The fragrance is of course not created by these celebrities; the name is just meant to boost sales, and having any say in the matter is probably quite rare. Well, this is not only the case with fragrances, but I digress.

I like Covet and it belongs in my collection; through it, I came across the description of Pure Crush. Hm, coconut, I love the scent of fresh coconut and I haven't encountered any other fragrance that contains coconut so far. So, I bought Pure Crush without testing it, the price made that quite feasible. Fran has described it very aptly; I can't add much to that. Pure Crush is rather one-dimensional and does not change; it simply smells of coconut and flowers and gives me a cozy summer feeling. However, the scent is not fresh or aquatic, as I would normally expect from summer fragrances, but warm and creamy. The sillage is close to the skin and the longevity leaves something to be desired, but for the price, you can confidently reapply. Pure Crush is a pleasant summer fragrance, wearable everywhere and doesn't clash anywhere. Not a standout, but a solid scent for warm days. The bottle is poorly rated here; well, I think it's quite nice and I like it; its colors are even more beautiful in person.

Fresh Coconut
Mrs. Parker's perfumes are certainly not a blockbuster, but among celebrity fragrances, they are arguably among the more interesting and somewhat refined ones. At least they are not as flat as just "fruityfloral sweet".

Here we have: a top-notch coconut scent. Without stickiness, without overwhelming sweetness, a few white flowers provide a subtle floral nuance that does not disturb but, on the contrary, makes the fragrance a bit "more perfumed". There is a strange roasted note that gives the coconut a certain artificiality, while the coconut itself is rather fresh and unsweetened. The whole thing is embedded in a white creaminess. Pure Crush feels bright and white and friendly and delicious, quite summery, and despite all its lightness, it exudes an surprisingly strong sillage. The longevity is also impressive. Vanilla fortunately takes a back seat for me; Pure Crush is not cloying. It is rather this rich creaminess that makes the fragrance so substantial. Like when you haven't shaken a can of coconut milk well enough, and you first pour out the very liquid coconut milk water, leaving only the solid, white, soft, aromatic coconut cream. Garnished with fresh white flowers - voilà: Pure Crush. In a positive sense, one-dimensional, very "leisure", a bit like being slathered with a rich coconut body lotion, just much more long-lasting.
Summer, here I come!

Milky-creamy, coconutty skin scent. Wears like a body mist. Bottle is kind of ugly but locking cap is nice feature. Good to throw in gym bag

The scent suits Carrie: feminine, friendly, sensual, and genuine. Coconut comes through, but more like in luxurious cream - not artificial at all.

I find the coconut here just as natural as in "Virgin Island Water," only the lime is missing. No overwhelming sweetness.

Exceptionally subtle for a coconut scent. Very nicely blended. Not a South Sea overkill fragrance, more for everyday wear, soft, airy, beautiful!

Really reminds me of those fluffy-crispy Raffaello! And just as summer-ready as the ad for R. wants to convey.

Coconut competes with white flowers, vanilla is hiding.
Something feels off - not quite harmonious. The flowers are too much...

Very authentic, freshly opened coconut! Well-groomed scent, always wearable! Unfortunately, very boring and quite monotonous! H/S poor
