Part 2: Sunnamusk - Night Illusion: the Fruity-Creamy
By chance, TikTok, and a friend, I (thankfully) stumbled upon the brand Sunnamusk. It hadn’t meant anything to me before, but two drops of Soft Paradise Perfume Oil were enough to put me in "MUST HAVE" mode.
Well, then there was unfortunately a tempting offer on the website similar to three for the price of two and here we are: richer by three fragrance oils, although I only wanted one (I am a true consumer victim when it comes to that).
Night Illusion sounded promising to me in terms of notes regarding the approaching summer or layering with Duchessa or something similar. The cherry vibe should be there according to the pyramid. Even though I believe that layering could work, the oil goes in a completely different direction.
Now that I have the little bottle, I rather get a vibe of Kirkè Extrait de Parfum or "Confidential Private Gold | Lattafa / لطافة". Even Shaghaf Oud Ahmar Eau de Parfum has more parallels here. The cherry is definitely not a dark one, if at all.
The scent goes directly after application into a fresh-fruity, yet quite sweet direction for me. Raspberry is the most present, closely followed by freesia, iris, and musk. I can somewhat understand the "synthetic" remark. At times, the scent smells like a very good shampoo. But I don’t find that intrusive or negative. Personally, I appreciate the scent just as it is. Over time, it transitions from fruit to flower, until it picks up creaminess in the base. That’s how it lingers on me; and for a very long time. From then on, it feels more like a very rich body butter with raspberry and vanilla. Simply incredibly delicious.
Sunnamusk currently produces some of the best oils for me. The website is beautifully designed and already gives a preview of how intense each oil is. So far, all the ones I have smelled are unbeatable in terms of price/performance regarding sillage and longevity, regardless of whether one is supposed to be more intense than the other. They all pack a punch.
The packaging with the glass pipette is also very successful and high-quality. As for dosing, I can only say: 10 ml will probably last forever. I just have two(!) drops, almost more like droplets on my arm - that’s more than enough to envelop me in a raspberry foam cloud.
I’m curious to see how the long-term test will turn out. In hindsight, I will probably make a "series" out of it. Let’s see how that goes!
Thanks for reading :)
