Magic of the Forest in the Far North
Do you know what daydreams are? I felt the scent
on my wrist, and there it was, magic! Suddenly, I found myself in a
deep primeval forest, surrounded by strong, thick trunks reaching up to the sky.
Firs and spruces defied the cold in their evergreen cloaks. It could be dark
through the dense crowns, but the sun was at its zenith, shining through the
canopy of green needles down to the high snow. Snow is never white; even now it shimmered in gold and emerald green. I stood there as if enchanted and would have surely frozen if she hadn't come. She was truly beautiful, and I recognized her immediately, Tallemaja. Was she human, was she animal? Her feminine body was covered with tree bark, and she proudly wore a fox-red tail. But I hardly noticed all of this. Her eyes developed a pull like the water seen from a bridge.
She turned around, walked away, and I followed her. I could have followed her to the ends of the earth. So we went, I don't know for how long. It finally began to dawn, the color of the snow lost its gold, the green of the trees darkened
and the air took on a different character. The scent of the needles receded and gave way to the smell of the human world. Smoke indicated that somewhere a warming fire was burning in a stove. I glanced briefly into the valley and saw
that I was very close to the world of humans. Tallemaja had disappeared. I was saved, yet at the same time felt abandoned and empty.
With thanks to Lucy55.
