Upon the first spray, something truly beautiful happens. An explosion of tropical fruits. Juicy, ripe mango and creamy coconut immediately leap out of the bottle. Everything feels very realistic, not synthetic at all. This combination instantly lifts the mood and feels like a little vacation in the sun.

Unfortunately, this tropical dream lasts only a very short time. After about two minutes, the mango almost completely disappears, taking the exotic fruits with it.

What remains is a powdery, slightly sweet musk note. Pleasant, clean, but also quite unremarkable. The fruity magic from the beginning is simply gone.

Longevity and sillage are actually very good. The scent lingers on the skin for a long time and is clearly perceptible. Just unfortunately without that beautiful mango and the exotic fruits that made the opening so special.

To be honest, it's really a shame, because that very tropical opening was the highlight of the entire fragrance.

Sometimes you smell a fragrance and know immediately: This is not a gimmick, this is serious.
Mango par Excellence by The Gate is exactly such a case - and for me, it is clearly mango at the highest level.

Right upon spraying, the mango explodes: Juicy, rich, natural, accompanied by fruity berries and a slightly citrusy freshness from bergamot and lemon. The whole thing does not come across as artificial or candy-like, but rather beautifully sunny and vibrant.

What I particularly like, and there was a bit of "concern," is that there is no overwhelming coconut vibe. The coconut is present, but it does not dominate.

In the heart, it becomes rounder and more elegant through the floral notes and deeper with the sandalwood without overpowering the fruitiness.

Vanilla, amber, and musk make the fragrance warm, soft, and extremely wearable in the base - pure good mood!

Possibly the best mango fragrance I have ever smelled. The scent shows how high-quality fruity can be when done right.

Very high-quality packaging, which I know from Sous les Nuages (another highlight from the house) or own. The packaging almost looks like wood, but seems to be extremely thick cardboard. Nice heavy cap and a great price-performance ratio for 100 ml. I tested my sample compared to the mango fragrance from Unique, and in my opinion, you get more for your money here, especially regarding longevity.

I only bought this fragrance sample by chance when ordering samples from the Souk because the notes sounded interesting, and I found my new number 1!
With the first spray, an incredibly fruity-juicy mango hits your nose. It is relatively sweet, but not too overpowering and perfectly balanced.
After a few minutes, a bit of lemon comes in, but the mango remains clearly in the foreground!
About an hour after application, the woodiness comes through a little, but not in a piercing or animalistic 'oud' way, rather gently and again perfectly balanced with the mango/lemon.
The sillage is extremely strong for the first 2-3 hours and then fades a bit, but is still good to smell for another 3-4 hours... so all in all, 5-8 hours of very good to good wearability. You can still smell my winter jacket in the hallway for days after three sprays, so the scent doesn't completely go away :D
I would associate the fragrance more with summer, but like all 'fruit monsters', it can actually be worn anytime!
